the 4g63t engine is really the only engine worth while. 195hp 205ftlbs for 1g engines and 205hp 210ftlbs for 2g engines. or more around 240-260hp for evo 3 and under engines.

any USDM 4g63t(cept from the Evo 8) will work. 6bolt 4g63ts were in 90/91 and early 92 1g turbo eclipse/talon/lasers, 7bolt 4g63ts were in 92-94 1g turbo eclipse/talon/lasers, and ver2 7bolt 4g63ts were in 95-99 2g turbo eclipse/talons.

main differences between 1g and 2g 4g63ts is the 1g used a larger 14b turbo where as the 2g used a t25 turbo. The 2g head would produce more torque for NA applications, but the 1g head is better overall. The 1g intake manifold flows better than the 2g, and the 2g exhaust manifold is by far better than the cracking 1g exhaust manifolds.

Best year engine to get is the 6bolts. The 7bolt engines tend to crankwalk, especially 2g 7bolts.

Really any mechanich should be able to do the swap, it is very straight forward. Here is a parts list:

Engine
Wiring harness
ECU
new motor mounts(recommended)
new clutch

Thats all you really need for a basic engine swap.

So here is a parts list for a 250-300whp car:

6bolt motor
2g ported exhaust mani
ported 02 housing
3" turbo back exhaust
replace the intercooler piping and get a cone filter
mid-end front mount intercooler aka starion
manual or electronic boost controller
boost, egt, oil temp gauges
safc
big 16g or evo 3 16g turbo
BMT LSD (optional, but if you want to put the power to the ground, then Id get it)

This is going to be around my setup https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif I just bought a running 6bolt motor for $725 shipped off of a guy on DSMTuners.com

here are some sites you might want to browse:

well u would not put a cai on a turbo car....but yes u are right ...u could use the after market support from the eclipse (1st and 2nd gens)

pleeeeeeease search be4 u ask.....almost any turbo can "fit" .....u need a turbo that works on a dsm manifold...which does bolt on to our motors (7g and 8g 4cyls) and yes this turbo will bolt to a dsm exhaust manifold which will fit on yer motor

Thats a pretty nice turbo but dont expect to just add a turbo exhaust manifold and turbo and expect to haul ass. You need a basic turbo kit, i.e. gaskets, oil line, either tap the 4g64 oil pan or get a turbo 4g63t oil pan, and a lot more parts to upgrade stock parts.

I myself prefer Mitsubishi turbos...

most 4g63t engines i can find come with AWD tranny, would the engine work with my stock tranny or another tranny made for my car that isnt AWD?
