Has anyone installed the S2000 style "Engine Start" button in their 8G????

If so, hook us up...

If not, I think I'm going to try it...

I know there are a bunch of tutorials for other cars but not for ours.

Here are some links if you want to try it yourself.

I want to know where other 8G owners install the button. In the cigarette lighter sockets near the coin tray? or in the hazard switch? or a custom cutout?

Should be too hard at all, my grandmother had to have one put in her old car because the ignition was too hard to turn for her, being at her age and all. It was a lil tricky but for under 100 dollars she got one installed wasn't as nice look, but only difference was the button. Just went to a regular mechanic down the street.

do you still need the key in the ignition?

you just turn it to the on position, and press the button.

Yea, which to me makes it pretty pointless. I mean, you've already expended the energy to stick the key in and turn it, may as well just give it a little more twist to start heh. What would be cool is some sort of bluetooth style transmitter that hangs on your keychain so all you need to do is have your keys in your pocket then hop in the car and hit the start button.

LOL I had that option once on an old Pontiac Bonneville that I was looking to buy! Too bad it was just jerryrigged into the dash, though.

This is definately just to add "pose" value, but you could hide the button and really screw with a valet when he tries to get your car for you....I dont think this adds any anti-theft value though...
