 with 18's you'd need to drop the 8g a lil bit..with 20's would you even need to drop it at all.. I would think that it would fill out nicely.?????

You wouldn't be able to unless you had the fenders rolled out.

Uhm, if you wanted to put 20's on the 8g and keep the same diameter wheel as stock, you would need a 10 series tire! I don't think that is possible... so.... with say a 30 series tire on a 20" rim you would fill the fender well completely. That would leave you little to no suspension travel before the wheel bites the fender.

Not worth it.... and ghey. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

20"x7.5" (maybe even 8.0") +45 offset 225/30/zr20 tires will fit and keep you within 2% of the same rolling circumference as stock. and yes you will have to drop it to avoid the monster truck look. the wheel well gap will look even more apparent w/ 30 sereis tires.

Yeah, Reelax is on point. If you stick to the exact specs that he mentioned you could possibly get away with a small Eibach drop. You will definitely need it to avoid the monster truck look. The problem is finding 20" rims that are 7.5" wide with a +45mm offset. I've seen a couple, but not many. The styles weren't all that great either.

Yeah the dealer explained everything about the 7.5" wide and matching offset. He also said that the 7.5 wide 45offset is brand new and that it was created for imports, ie Honda, mitsu, cars that cannot normally fit larger wheels to be able to sustain those (larger) wheels/rims without rubbing. the dealer also said that you will see an abundance of this size hitting the market this year. He showed me a couple cars he did lol honda civic with 20's, but anyway, do you think putting 20's on an 8G will look funny, too big?
AND...
If you get 20's and drop the 8G wont they most certainly rub then?

here's a picture of a galant sitting on some 20 inch spinners. not dropped. 225/35/20.

the owner has since sold the 20's and dropped down to 19's and bagged the car.

but an old member here lx4life has 20's on his galant. he was also dropped with some sprint springs which is like a 2 inch drop. according to him, he didn't have to mod anything to get things to fit. so yea its also how you place the wheel game. he was pushing 20x7.5" rims with a 42mm offset with 225/35/20 inch tires. so that shows you can drop your car with 20's, but the wheels you get also play a big role.

There is always a chance of rubbing no matter what size rims you have. With 20's, your main concern will be rubbing the rear fenders and rubbing up front when trying to turn. I doubt you will have problems with the front at all if you get the 7.5" width with a +45mm offset. Now depending on the drop and tire size and whether you install a rear camber kit or not, you could possibly rub in the rear. But, then you could just get your rear fenders rolled.

Whether or not I think that 20's look funny or too big on a Galant, I think it depends on the design. I think a design like the following would look sweet in 20".

If I were going 20's that would be the kind of rim I would be looking for. The problem is the closest size that rim comes in that could possibly fit is 20"x8" with a +44mm offset.

In my opinion, most chrome luxury designs look a bit too big.
