theres this weird sound coming from my car
it sounds like the brakes squeling, only it cant be because the sound occurs at random times, almost with no relation to what im doin in the car
although sometimes the sound will go away when i step on the brakes
any idea what this could be?

Does it have a metalic sound such as something vibrating. If it does is most likely your front brakes. You better fix this asap otherwise you will end up getting new rotors. You might be able to cut them. In any case I just did my brakes for $370 or so. New pads and cutting of all 4.

(I normally do them, but because I need to travel this wekend I prefered to pay to have them done).

You could check by pulling one of the tires and after you release the e-brake push in the pads in the coliper ot look at them from the peep hole on the top of the caliper. You will see if the pad is worn if there is a piece of metal like a hook touching the rotor or if the are about 1/4 of a penny.
(one penny that lies flat )

$370 for what? New rotors and pads are only 150.

It was something like 130 for labor
120 for the ceramic pads for thefront and rear
60 for cutting
10 for shop supplies

and rest for lifetime warranty that includes labor. I was told that everytime I need new pads Im cover for as long as the business is the same owner and Iam the original owner of the car from the time they did the work.

it has a metalic sound, like brakes squealing, but there is no vibration
if i had the windows rolled up, i wouldn't hear the sound at all

Did you have that recall / inspect on the ball joint / control arm checked done?? My car was making a weird squeaking noise for a few weeks this winter right before I had them replaced. Now the sound is gone.

wut is the ball joint? can i check it myself or do i need to bring it to the dealer?

i should have mentioned this earlier...
wen i go in reverse the metallic scrapping sound becomes a whine
and it gets lounder wen i step on the brakes goin in reverse

im starting to think its the brakes but i jus dont understand why the sound goes away wen i step on the brakes goin forward...

If you look at the front rotors, do they look scraped or with groves on them. If they do you will be better off replacing them yourself, if not take them to shop and have all 4, plus replace the fluid.
If the rotors have grove on them you will need to order those rotors otherwise the shop will charge around 100 ea. also get the ceramic pads. I just put them on mine and they do a great job of stopping.

By the way, if you go to the shop, might as well do the rear ones. When was the last time on those. Mine had 120K on the rear and about 30 on the front.

No matter what, ask them to cut the rotors. (This will remove the glaze on them and on the rear the drums are really coated if you have not replaced them on a while).

if they are scraped i should replace them myself? or do u mean the other way around?

if i want to do it myself is there a way for me to "cut" the rotors?

and i dont wana do this unless i have to... i dont really have any problems braking and the light for the brakes doesnt come on in the dash board

is for sure that my pads are worn down or could it be something else?

Changing the rotors is extremely easy...

But you cant cut the rotors yourself.. Although you could just take your rotors to a brake shop to do it for you, it cant cost ya toomuch at all and then you install them.

If your smart the most important thing to have functioning properly are your brakes. They may work fine now...but they may fail soon if problems arent solved and then ur shit outa luck when your doin 90 into the back of a truck =D
