trunk is always damp

The inside of my trunk is always covered in moisture when i open it. I've checked for leaks and it doesnt and i've dried it out many times but it always comes back. Now i'm looking at doing a custom amp and sub install in the trunk and i dont want it to affect that. So what could i do to stop this?

exactly where did u check for leaks? on the trunk lid? the stripping around the trunk can leak along with the gaskets around the tail lights

I have same issues, but I always thought it was because of the aftermarket wing.. Did you check in the spare tire well?

I just ordered the weather stripping from mitsubishiparts.net for the trunk lid. My car is a 1998 ES, the part number is MR311037. It cost $28 plus shipping, but I think the cost is worth it because it fits right in there, so you dont doubt yourself after you are done. I also ordered weather stripping for my front driver side door because someone tried to break into my car before I bought it and f'd up the stripping.

Well...I would check the weatherstrip around the trunk area and the lid itself too. 2nd..I would check if there is any rust issues that may of eaten through. 3rd...If you have a spoiler, check the drill points...see if the gasket is fine, or any rust issues. 4th...There may be some leaking from the antenna area..maybe the grommet needs replacing if you have a standard antenna or if you have power the drain hose or grommet is bad too. 5th(And my last thing I can think of checking) is to check the spare tire area...sometimes the drain plug there goes bad and moisture does seap into the trunk area.

The tire well in my trunk is always damp. I also checked for leaks, and found none. Only the tire well is wet. None of the matting, carpet, metal, plastic or anything else around the tire well is wet. Any ideas here?

Get a few buckets of water, pour them over the trunk area and inspect for leakage...

Well since it hasn't been mentioned here, crawl under the car and look at the bottom of the wheel well. There should be like 4 or 5 rubber seals, and my bet is that one of them are leaking/missing/torn.
