alarms are hard to install, not really hard, but just require a lot of work to put in. if you want an alarm, you're gonna have to pay over $150 by going to a shop and getting one bought and installed there. and $150 will get you the very basic. my alarm was over $300 and it's pretty good though.

Most shops will install an alarm even if you don't buy it from then right? Just checking..

I can install it for you, piece of cake in less than an hour.

peano - how hard is it to install an alarm - if I set aside a whole saturday, you think I could get an alarm/ remote start installed myself?

it's not hard, just trying to find all the wires to tap into is a pain in the ass. shops will install alarms for you if you didn't buy them there, but you get a much better deal if you do. my alarm was $200 retail, and they only charged me $35 for installation, then i got a few more features added on which jacked it up another $100

I'd like to see that. No really, I would - a clean install.

On the side I install alarms and remote starts for a little extra cash. Not a high volume business, but I've been doing about 1 car a weekend for an extra $150 per. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif Anyways, most shops will try to up-sell you if you buy an alram from them and get it installed there too. I've found the best brands for both alarms and remote starts - based on versitility, clear labled connections and ease of installation - are the Crime Stopper and Bulldog brands. Their not your Clifford or Alpine alarms, but they don't carry the price tag either - and they offer the same features. Just don't get the bottom/entry level model. Also, remember any alarm is only as good as the install - meaning you could take a gold-plated nuclear power radar-based whoosey whatzit with a crappy install and any theif could circumvent it minutes...

BTW - that alarm you linked to? I wouldn't recommend it... there are better well known brands with more features.
