well being the suspension newb i will try to help.

cutting the springs decreases the height of ur springs. yes, self explanatory, but it also decreases the spring rate and it is harder for the springs to support ur car.

i dunno the details but i think if you do that, you will hurt your suspension. i think for aftermarket springs, its ok to cut it a little, but still will cause more damage than not cutting it at all.

i sound like i dunno what im talking about

someone help! https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

Don't ever do that! you will seriously damage your car not just the suspension, it would be better to buy some progress springs than to do that.

getting progress springs won't help. the teins and the progress claim the same drop rate.

getting an air ride suspension or coilovers are two options you can look at. i know vic wanted his ride lower than the teins he had so he got some coilovers and that dropped him lower. something you might want to think about, especially if you plan on getting like a body kit in the future.

How long have you had them on for? If it's only been a short while, you might try giving them some time, it takes a little while for the springs to settle out to their lowest ride height.

well galantv600 says a 2.2 inch drop in the front and 1.8 inch drop in the back here ('http://66.98.150.64/~clubtgc/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26138&highlight=progress&sid=9962ce52984acba21fa135027a896115')

and then looking at ptuning's site, click click ('http://www.ptuning.com/html/Item-Desc.cfm?PartNo=PT40%2E1420&MakeCode=mitsub&ModelCode=galant&ModelYear=1999%2D2002%20All&ModelDesc=Galant') it shows on the v6, the progress has 2.2 inch drop in the front and 1.8 in the back

Get whatever else you think will drop you lower.

tein springs. only difference is this pik is riding on stock shocks. many people say that when u slap agx's onto your car the ride height goes up a lil bit. this the difference between the drop heights between the two galant with the tein springs.

Yes, however both Mine and Jason's cars are riding on AGX so theres a difference in height, its all good though we both have our own opinions and have evidence that could prove one over the other but in the end its up to the person putting these on to decide if they like or not. enough banter our points are proven.

ok lemme clear this up.

my springs are H&R and yes i cut them 1 coil each (actually my speed shop cut them) cuz i wanted to go lower than the H&R drop which is about 1.5" all the way around. now if i had to do it all over again i would have waited for ground control coilovers... but i bought my springs in 1999, which means i had one of the first lowered 8G's, and i really had no idea that any other springs were ever going to b made for this platform. at the time there were no other springs available for the galant other than the H&R set... the 3G eclipse ('00+) hadn't even come out yet. the progress set came out in 2000, then the eibach set and since ground control uses special eibach springs, those didn't even come out till late 2000 (along w/ their units for the 3G eclipse). next came intrax and sprint and now tein. i have about 80K+ miles on my cut H&R's and they are holding up fine... the next mod i do to the suspension is going to b TEIN SS (which would replace both the H&R and stock shocks) and rear camber kits.

here are b4 and after pics from H&R to H&R cut:

http://www.raniworld.com/RAAA/10thenandnow.jpg

bottom line is that after market springs have a higher spring rate than stock allready, so cutting them up to a coil is not bad per se... but cutting stock springs is about the worst thing you can do since you will lose spring rate that you can't afford to lose and you will eventually blow your shocks and bottom out your suspension (really bad as this can bend and ruin suspension pieces). now that there is a much better selection of lowereing springs and adjustable springs out there, if i were u, i would just sell my current set, and buy either adjustables like GC or get full coilovers.
