Does anyone have any experience with the adjustable springs? Any negatives?

many people here have adjustable springs. sometimes called coilovers. the peple here like ground control. they like it better than the skunk2. skunk2 is a good brand though. my friend has them and tehy are pretty nice.

but yea as for ride quality, they won't be as good as a good pair of springs but thats one of the prices you pay for the adjustability.

If you were to go with coilovers, I'd go with the Tein Basic Dampers, Tein SS Dampers, or the JIC Magic coilovers. They are much better than trying to install coilover sleeves over your stock or aftermarket struts/shocks. I have the Tein SS Dampers at home getting ready to be installed.

I got the Tein SS Dampers along with the pillow ball upper mounts which is actually known as the SS-P Dampers. The set ran me $1215 shipped. The best part is that the struts and shocks have 16 way adjustable dampening. The KYB AGX's only have 4 way dampening.

I say pay 400 for a set of ground control c/o. They are used exstensively on race vehicles such as BMW, Audi, honda, Mitsu etc. They even use Eibach springs in conjunction with there setup. Full height adjustibilty with proven performance at an unbeatable price. Thats what I'm running and love it 8)

So if I got these what else would I wanna buy with them?

You will eventually have to buy some shocks/struts as your stock suspension will not hold up very long with c/o. I suggest AGX.

and that's why a tein setup is pretty good. figure springs are 300 and struts are 300-400 you're up to 800-900 for everything anyways. tein has a set that is 900. i've actually been too lazy to buy some but only cuz i wouldn't install em till spring. i can't make myself buy something NOW so it sits in my house for a couple months.

There is no need to spend big $$$$ on suspension if you are just planning to use it for daily driving and mainly having benefit of a lowered look. Real deal coilovers like Teins and Tanabes are for real serious racers that will needing it for rigorous hard corning driving. If thats not what you are intending to use your suspension for...save the money, get a decent spring shock/strut set or even a set of Ground Control or Skunk2 coilovers will do. I just see don't see the point of spending expensive things on the car if you are not going to use it at its full potential...thats just me.

Tein Basic Dampers can be purchased for $809 shipped. That's not big money. They are perfect for someone who just wants a drop on a daily car. They aren't that great for racing.

Just to verify... I can get the set of GC this guy is selling, but my stock struts would go bad quickly? I'll just get Springs if that's the case...

Well, i've got the GC's and im still on my stock shocks/struts. I've been on them for about 7000 miles or so, so it wont go that fast. In about 2 months im just gonna go ahead and get the KYB AGX's though.

Are you feelin anything different from what you felt 7,000 miles ago CO?

Just a very little, not anything too noticable at all. If you've got the money go ahead and get the Coilovers and the shocks/struts at once. If not, if you can wait around 6 months (at most) to get the shocks/struts.

Just to clarify, it doesn't matter whether you get coilovers or springs, the stock struts/shocks will blow out quicker than normal. The more you lower the car, the quicker the struts/shocks will blow out. COgalant's experience is not typical unless he didn't drop his car very far. When I installed my Progress springs, the front struts were still stock because there were no aftermarket struts available yet. Anyway, my front struts blew out in less than a month. I rode around like that for 6 months and is sucked. I highly suggest aftermarket struts and shocks no matter what.

Good point David, I was suprised myself that they lasted so long. And my car is pretty low (have GC's), almost as much as they can go. If I had to do it all over again i would have just got everything done at once.

I guess my experience wasnt typical. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif
