Well i FINALLY got my STB in from electrodyne. OOOHHH man was i happy, i ran out like a little school kid that just got a new toy to install it. Well to put it to you guys plain and simple, if you dont not have to people holding the strut on each end and tightning it, it is a MAJOR BITCH to install. I almost think that even though it says "made for galant 99-02. I think its more of a universal fit. Anyways, my suggestion to anybody putting on a strut, do it with two people.

what did u really run into as in problem wise? i mean i can't really see the strut bar flying around as u tighten it up down cuz its held in by 3 bolts, and u do one end @ a time.

as for the universal fit...really hard to do but a possibility. i mean each car has different distances from each strut tower. some are close enough to share the same bar but then the bolt patterns on the base could be different.

It wasn't hard really when I put mine on. I put the mounts on one at a time and then connected the bar across. One of the mounts had to be encouraged with a rubber mallet but went on alright. I had to do some slight "bending" to get the prong mounts to fit up to the bar but that was the hardest part. Was not that bad at all.... I estimated (expriemnted with clicker t-wrench) the strut bolts were torqued around 40ftlbs... but don't know for sure....

Sorry to hear yours was hard. All in all I'd give it a 2 out 10 for difficulty (10 being hardest).

I found the install of the strut bar to be cake...Maybe it was defective??? Next time we have an AZ meet I'll take a look at it for you and see if we can see any problems...

well when i went to put it on, its like the little things u mount the struts, its like its didnt match up correctly, its like they measured the damn thing wrong or something. Anywho, i got it to fit, but its a tight fit though, i used the bolts to secure it down.

You sure you didn't have them reversed left to right or upside down? If not, sounds like they sent you the wrong STB. Mine matched up perfect and went right on, but when it was shipped, they were reversed so it would fit in the box, so I had to take them off and turn them over. Just a thought.

mine was reversed too when i got it, meaning the letters on the decal was facing the firewall so i just have to turn the bar around.

That probably means the mounts are now on backwards. Since you just flipped it around. I mean, it should be tight, but not rubber mallet tight. We had to jack my up off the ground and push the tops of the wheels in to get it to fit on. Then, when you let go, it tightens back up. Works great too. NP.

i didn't switched the mounts around. just the bar. i unscrewed the bar off the mounts and fliped it. other than that, the install was fairly easy.

Mine was definitely a tight fit. It took about 20 minutes before I got both sides on. It was like the inside diameter of each brace was a mm too small. I actually had to use a rubber mallet to get it to fit, but everyhitng lined up perfectly... should be interesting whenever I have to take it off.

I think you guys with Freedom Design bars that forced the fit, might have the plates on the wrong sides. I thought the same thing at first because I just threw em on and uh oh it's just not fitting perfect and one side it did, but after swapping the sides it was perfect the bar has to be closer to the firewall. Just check.

Here's my Freedom Design installed. It fit perfectly without jacking my car or using a rubber mallet. http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/4f4e72d4/bc/Yahoo!+Photo+Album/6g72-2.jpg?bcIqvt9AqL_j6OxM

I had to mallet one side on... but if I reversed the mounts the bar looked like it would have been going across my engine! Basically the three bolts were slightly spread out and was too tight to just set on the STB mount on top. The mallet helped it go on.... I'm pretty sure it's on the right way (looked like STB pics)...

Well I'm not too proud to admit it (sheepish look)... after a second look at the posted pics I DID have the STB mounts reversed  ...

I want to thank the guys on this thread.... otherwise I would have been driving around with the thing backwards!!

On the plus side I was able to paint the red mounts the color I wanted!!!

Thanks again for pointing out the error.... I think Freedom would benefit from putting arrows on the mounts or something....

Not a problem Blue. That's what we're all here for...to help each other out. Glad I had that pic to give you an idea of how it's supposed to look. You're right, Freedom was less than weak with their instructions. But it's all good now.

won't fit. didnt' even have to wait for the page to load. first of all, thats for the 95-99, u need something for the 2000+, secondly, thats a rear bar, that won't fit in the front and u don't need it for the back if it fit anyways
