Muffler inlet size question

I currently have a 2.5in mandrel bent catback with a 2.25in inlet muffler. With the SDS coming I am wondering if I should change the muffler to one with a 2.5in inlet. This should help me, right? Or is it a waste of money?

Not a waste of money...

I decided to go with an Apex-i N1.

I'm sure other people have more recommendations too.
