Would a 0W-30 synthetic oil be harmful to my car???

Depends on the millage. If you're anything but off the showroom floor, than more than likely yes. Not harmful per se, but you would have oil leakage problems and possibly some smoking.

One of my friends told me to get normal oil and dont mess around with all of then synthetic stuff. Synthetic, he said is great for turbo applications.

Also it's recomended in the repair manual to use 10W-30.

Synthetic isn't good for your engine if you have high mileage. It causes leaks in you engine. I use a synthetic blend. Personally I like to use valvoline. I put in 5W30 in the winter and 10W30 in the summer, spring, and fall. If you have a high mileage engine I would suggest a synblend or regular oil. Synthetic you have to start using when you engine is somewhat new.

I said that it is bad to use if you have an old engine.
