Hey i recently got a 1g TB with the TPS but i belive my galant TPS is going out, so my question is, is there any way to use the 1g TPS instead of the galant TPS without switching ECUs? i know i cant use the IAC w/o changing ECUs but what about the TPS...? any help is much appreciated.
BTW i did a search and was unable to find anything so i apologize if i missed it. thanks guys

Yes you can use the 1g tps, but you have to cut a wire on the TPS harness and move it over to the 1g Closed Throttle switch thats screwed into the opposite side of the TB. The 4g64 TPS has that switch built into the TPS itself.

ahh thanks for the quick reply jip... u are awesome https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif so im guessin i have to do away with the harness for the TPS all together then since its different

o yea... u dont happen to have a wiring diagram for the 1g and galant tps do ya? thanks again
****EDIT****
after looking closer im beginning to think that the throttle body i got is not what i need.... it is 60 mm and says that it is off of a 1g eclipse fwd turbo... but the iac (where the channel needs to be filled and all) appears to be one piece with the TB... not two piece like in the pics in your tutorial.....is there any way i can still use this part?

Uh ye thats the wrong one. I forgot what years you need but Ithink that one is from 89-90 the 1g era of parts that we can use are from 91-94. Anything from 89-90 dont even consider.

Right now I dont have my ISC hooked up at all. Havnt for a while.

As for the tps the 1g 91-94 tps should accpet the same harness conector. I believe all the pins line up, and you just cut 1 wire off. But when I get home I'll take a look at the schematics and check my 1g sensor that lives under my bed with the rest of the unused parts to see if they'll match and tell you what I believe you'll need to do.

The 91-94, and 95-98 eclipse sensor fits the Galant connector. The pins are all the same according to both eclipse and galant chiltons so...

On the Galant harness, clip the YEL/RED wire (thats pin 3) about an inch up from the connector so that theres enough wire left on the connector side to reconnect the wire in the future if needed. Extend that yel/red wire over to the 1g closed throttle switch that looks like a screw with a tab at the top on the opposite side of the TB where the throttle cable is. Atatch the yel/red wire to the top tab.

Hope that helps.

well thanks jip but i dont think it much matters.. must be off a 90... the auction for my part said it was off a 91 eclipse but now that u mention it i think that the 89, 90, and 1st half on 91s are all the same... grrr..lol .. o well thanks again man. glad i didnt spend much haha

You could always use that one and not hook up the IAC at all and use the bISS to adjust ur idle speed. Thats what I do

yea i had considered doing that but the only thing is the 1g (this one at least) also has a different harness to connect the TPS, and the wire are completely different colors... i may do a little research and see if i can find a way to splice the galant tps harness onto the 1g tps... i kno they are cheap but i hate buying stuff twice.... thanks tho jip you've been a great help.
