I was wondering which one would be for my 92 galant sohc. do i have to get the comp out and check the number on it? I'm going to have my mechanic friend do the work but i can get the parts uber cheap thats y im doing the buying. I'm in california and one of them is:
MD16 1841
Mitsubishi Galant 2.0 California
$400.00

So i'm wondering if i have to get that one :oops: Can someone point me in the right direction https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

If you need a new ECU, just get a used one from someone like MS Recycling. New ones aren't really worth it. Especially if you just have a SOHC.

i just put a new ecu in my 92 sohc the numbers dont match on mine but the ecu works fine

I also put a 1992 ECU and it worked like it was made for the car. I changed some of the harness at the same time, but that was only to get the foglamps to work.

Someone told me that it might not be clean running, too much carbonmonoxide in the exhaust. But as long as it passes its DMV-tests I am not going to do anything about it.

However: It might be harmful to the car, so it is recomended to swap to a unit with the same number/equivalent.

In Norway the cost of rebuilding the ECU is about 150$.
