I know this should be an easy thing to do, but I want to make sure that I do it right.

Can someone send me to the DIY to do this? Thanks

same way you do it for the 7G. one piece of advice though: take off your intake hose so you can see the plate that open and closes with the TB. you want to tighten your TB cable as much as possible UNTILL the plate begins to open. on that DIY tutorial, he says he slid it all the way. when i did this on my 7G it opened the TB a little bit, which would raise the idle way up! slide the plate untill you see the TB begin to open.

Yeah I need to go in a rephrase that. It should say "Pull the plate back enough without idleing to high, I did mine all the way without having to worry about high Idle."

Did a post go around saying that for our cars this is useless and should not be done because it actually hurts performance or something... I thought our resident Mitsubishi Tech Advisor "Manybrews" had said this...

tightening the throttle body cable should affect NOTHING that the car can tell. all you're doing is removing slack that is purely mechanical. just making the pedal more responsive and taking away the "dead" movement at the begining of the pedal.

Thank you Peano, thats all it was meant to do. Some people think every mod is made to creat hp, especially them stickers.

Be careful bro, I snapped my throttle body back in late 2003 after doing the mod. Only pull out the slack, nothing more. I was lucky the Galant was still under warranty at the time.

When they say slack, they dont mean make it so tight you cant move it up and down. Some cars over the years there is actually slack in the cable so the cable sags. The "mod" is to just adjust the plate so the slack is no longer there. You still will be able to move it up and down just the cable isnt sagging.

If your idle changed by doing this, you tightened it too much.

You know?? I often wondered if the slack in the cable didnt let the throttle body open up good enough.. So basically by taking the slack out and not raising the RPM this would cause slightly better throttle response???????

Shadow summed it up perfectly. Not too tight so as to raise the idle not too loose so as to have slack.

Done

thanks

you MUST have a few millimeters of slack in the cable... the cable expands and contracts with temp, and if you adjust it to have no slack in it, it may well contract and pull the throttle open slightly when you arent expecting it.
