What tranny's will fit in my '96 G

Need an automatic for my '96 Galant. I am looking for a used tranny possibly out of a wreck. I am looking to do the swap my self so any recomendations are welcome...

I assume you desire to stay with an Automatic? Umm, another 7g Galant will work ('95-'98 are all the same, but I've heard there were some slight diffrences with the '94s but it should still work) As will a 2g ('95-'99) turbo Eclipse FWD. An 8G might work, but I'm not 100% on that one. Or, if youd like you could have Level 10 rebuild yours. Just remember, with a used automatic you may be making a lateral move as often they have problems of their own.

ok 8g tranny's wont work cuz they are reverse to the 7g tranny....as for any car that has a 4g engine...4g63, 4g64, 4g92 etc...will all fit ur galant.....levelten upgrades are good, but i will go with a 95-99 2g eclipse TURBO tranny either auto or manual....the swap from auto to manual is easy...check out http://www.vfaq.com/ ('http://www.vfaq.com/') and look up in the transmission section for the how to on teh manual swap
