Hey i am gettin a port & polish and my headers re done. Just wondering if anyone has done this yet, and do u know how much better the acceleration will be, and i do have other mods to help the headers

Actually, you have a header, not headers... but it depends on how much porting is being done and how good of a job.

Well it is port polish valve seals stems, and some other shit going down in it. I know i need the headers but i refuse to try rpw and i do not know anyone else that makes good headers

A header made for a 4g63 eclipse will work and so will a header made for the 8g galant, but both will require a custom downpipe.

but how much more power am i lookin at. Those are both stock options and what size 4g63 header or 8g header would i use. I am assuming a sohc, or the 2.0 in case of the 4g63 let me know

Any aftermarket header made for the 4G63/4G64 will fit, but with a header upgrade and port and polish I'd say you're still only looking at an extra 30-40hp max.

does it really matter the enginge size because i know i always see on ebay the ones for the 2.0 dohc does it have to be sohc for either or can i go with the one with a dohc??????

You cannot use the 2.0L 420a headers(probably what you are seeing on eBay). But I think OBX makes a set of headers for the 7g?

everything obx makes according to there site is all for dohc can i use one of those if it is for my 2.4l

If they make a header for a DOHC Galant it will fit your SOHC.

OBX doesnt make a header for the 7g...trust me.

No.....you can get a header for any 4G64 or 4G63 engine. The header will bolt to the head but you will have issues with the down pipe. Trust me I have an 8g header...it's going to bolt up fine but I have to get a down pipe made or modify the one that came with it.

Is the 8g header bigger and better then our header that is on now, because i am really lookin for some extra whp honestly. That is why i am not really tryin to put another stock header on my car.

You would want to get an aftermarket header of course. The stock 8G header is the same as your stock one.

So long as you get something made for the 7G (DOHC or SOHC), 4G63 Eclipse (DOHC), or 8G (4G64), the header will fit.

As mentioned earlier, you'll need a new downpipe, and might as well do the whole exhaust 2.5" from the header back while you're at it.

You wish!! A ported DOHC swap MAYBE 20-25hp gain, but SOHC and headers your looking at like 10-15hp. I duno where you got 30-40, thats like saying a K&N really gives you 10hp increase like advertised :laughing:

But anyway, I duno how many times its been posted in this topic or the thousand other times this question has come up, HEADER MADE FOR 4g63 NON TURBO WILL FIT!!! Very important: NA 4g63 IS NOT the non turbo eclipse in all cases I think the early NA Eclipse was 4g63 but the later models are a Chrysler 420a engine and if you are paying attention a 420a is not a 4g63 and the headers wont fit.

A good P&P job plus header/2.5" exhaust could get you around 30hp.

Have there been any hard numbers given for the RPW header? I was under the impression it was around a 15hp gain... P&P should yield 10 or so, plus another 5 for bigger exhaust..

15+10+5 doesn't add up to 30.

at least not when you're adding horsepower gains on a mods. remember those numbers will overlap eachother.

Well what I do know is that I would not be spending all that money for a header and P&P when it should be going toward a turbo that will net you a lot more hp.
