Damn, you must have a good job or something. 18 y.o. $400+ for insurance and I know the monthly bill for a GTZ will be in the $500+ range. On top of that Rent, if you live on your own.

I'm paying around $130 a month for my Galant and Sentra. Sometimes I give an extra $20 or so to drop the next months payment down. I have 2 insurance points that will come off in November and my DMV record is currently clean, so I should drop back under $100 a month. I was paying $67 a month for 2 cars, then the insurance rates went up. I've been a licensed driver for over 16 years.

Should you shop around? I don't know how the insurance rates are in Louisiana. But in my area, I pay more living in the unincorporated area than if I was to live in the city, a difference of $15 to $50, depending on which insurance company I go through.

I pay 108.45 a month for insurance with allstate. I am 24 and it will go down again when we rewrite our policy since I am married now. you should always shop around for insurance, but being on your parents policy will give you a multi car discount that would you wouldnt receive on your own.

My payments are $495.23/mo. for car payments, $144.60/mo. for insurance with Mercury on two cars, '00 Galant (full coverage + UM) & '90 Integra (liability + UM), over the age of 25, married, Integra listed as primary and both names on car, Galant as secondary with just me on car, in the city of LA, clean record now as all points, accidents, & totals are dropped off record, and 19 yrs as a licensed driver.

TIP: If coverage for more than one car, sometimes it's cheaper to list the newer car as the primary if it's considered a safer and higher ranked car. You should ask your insurance company for comparisons.

I even went one year in the past on an older car w/o insurance b/c it is expensive when you're not working and that was the year I didn't need smog cert. and proof insurance sent in. Luckily nothing happened that year, hehe.

It's funny how BGR's rate goes down when you're not in the city. Over here in LA, the farther you are from the city, the cheaper it is (red zoning). You're just the opposite.

What a coincidence. I just got my renewal policy in the mail. My record is finally clean of my speeding ticket and the total premium still went up $186 for the year. Anyway, I'll be 24 on October 1st and I'll now be paying $176 a month with a $500 collision deductible and a clean record. As I said, my speeding ticket finally came off and my 4 accidents that I had in the past have been long off of my insurance. Only one of them was my fault even though I was blamed for another.

I used to pay alot for insurance, but what I did was go to an insurance agency and let them find the cheapest available insurance for me. When most places wanted like $2400 - $3000 a year, the agency was able to get me a policy with Farmers for $1896 a year.

Well to start off with i do have a good job i just got one that i will be makin about 30000 a year and that is a 18year old live at home with no bills other than my cell phone and gas card. And soon the galat note and insurance. So i think i will be about to get by with that. So lets say 600 a week at least (Mite have overtime) is 2400 a month and lets say my note is 600 and insurance is 500 and gas is 200 and celly is 100 that is 1400 a month for bills so that leaves me with 1000 left does that make since if not let me no. Thanks O by the way the 450 a month is under my dads name

Of all the years you've been on TGC, I still don't know what type of car you have. What do you have? If you don't want anyone to know then just PM me.

I'm 21 and i only pay 170.00 a moth. And i juct recently had a car crash and totaled my car and I only had the car for 4 months so it all got payed for and it was my fault. On top of it all I'm one speeding ticket away from losing my license. But people with low insurance have better credit then driving record. People with bad credits make more claims on there insurance so those people with bad credit have higher insurance rates then the people with good credit. Plus if you have alot of people on one policy you're payments will actually be cheaper. I have progressive and I live in Florida.

Just remember the amount your mothly/yearly premium isn't all that matters. For axample, here in CT I could have gotten full coverage (including glass) for about $950/y but at the state required minimum of 20k/40k for collision and liability, but that isnt enough coverage in the event I cause a major accendent and the other persons medical bills go past 40k, I don't need my house sold to cover the extra amount nor do I wish to have my pay attached to cover the rest, so... Cheap insurance is just that, cheap, in the short term. You youngins driving around all crazy might cause a major accendent someday and then have your pay attached for many years or worse, your daddy (whos policy your under and probably paying for your insurance) might have to get a second job just to pay for the medical bills you created. But at anyrate....I'm 33, male, 109/m thru AMICA, full coverage, including glass/tow, with well above the state minimum required. I'm not going to give the amount covered for because I know there are those who would like to cash in on that amount but I know I'll never have to pay a dime out of my pocket. Don't get me wrong, as little as 2 years ago I did have CT state minimum of 20k/40k because I was in a major finacial bind and I drove real carfull. I thought I would just point out some realalities for you that you will appreciate as you get older. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

I pay about $900 per YEAR, for full coverage (250/500 deduct) and well above state min (250K limit) on my Galant, I'm over 30 with a perfect driving record. I also have 3 other cars, house, and business insurance all with the same company so I get a bit of a volume discount..
