tap into one of the accessory outlets or the fuse box.

That's what I did.

Detector mounted just under the rear view mirror, cord runs up to and under the headleader, to the driver's side, down behing the A-pillar, and the fusebox is right there.

What i did because i didn't wanna hard wire mine(V1), is that i took the detector and mounted it on my visor and then put the cord inside of my left a-pillar and under the other panels so the cord comes out just to the right of the steering wheel and then plugs into an outlet. But you can't even see my radar detector unless you bend down and look up at the visor. It's alot better than having it in the middle of the windshield and everyone can see it all the time. I also put the concealed display in front of the gauges so i don't have to look up at the visor.

i have mine a lil over my rear view mirror... isnt there a way to wire or tap it closer than goin through the roof.. pillars and such? i mean my cable isnt even THAT long to reach all that either... and to take all that off means id have to screw around with my gauge pod n i dont want to !!!

if you really want to hard wire it, i say bite the bullet and do it right the firrst time. i mean if you think about it. the only electrical up there that you woulda tap into is the dome light. but then the wiring for teh dome light is on 24/7 can't really make the radar detector turn off and on with the car.

You could, or you could spend $7 and get a 10 foot cord for hardwiring ('http://www.cobra.com/index.php?page=shop/flypage&product_id=364&id=1').
