1. the (2.5") piping route is identical to BigShun's old g - thanks again for pioneering this route https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif it saved hours of talking at the shop
2. the flow is about 65/35 (left, right) - i'd like to do something about this soon... modify the connection a little. obviously one is a little louder than the other, but from around 3000 rpm's up it evens out and there's a "harmony"
3. sound is nice, but it can get a little loud for me. there's no way those filthy silencers are going in... slight hum in the lower rpm's when highway driving, but it sounds very nice at wot. i'm used to riding stealth, so it might take a little getting used to
4. the installer took the time to fabricate two very, very secure hangers using generic hanger parts for both sides, welded to the frame rail. you can hang off of the pipes and it won't budge
5. total cost = $230. 70 for exhausts (generic fireball types 3.5"tip), 150 for install, 10 for 2 cans of dupli-color ceramic 1200F black. i cut the bumper out and was going to fiberglass the missing section, but decided to skip it.
6. i know there's always talk of loss backpressure from a lot of people, but i haven't really felt any loss. but it does surprisingly feel a lot free-er  when the revs get up there. btw, the combined weight of my exhausts were about 10 lbs. forgot to see how much the stock one weighed - my mind was far from that at the time

also...
- i have onlyphases's fog mod board
- hella yellow h3 fog bulbs & raybrig 4" glass w/ metal housing foglights (they're oem on the montero sport)
- the bottom pic is a tcs/abs switch i installed a little while ago
- the grille is a hk generic grille that doesn't come with an emblem. the sidewalls of the grille have been fiberglass molded about 1/2 inch deeper to look jdm-ish (looking for a gtz emblem for the grille, please pm if someone shaved)
- rear emblem has been painted graphite w/ triple black diamonds. gtz decal also in graphite. please don't bite https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif :?
- the headlights are 01's that were painted. more sections of the corners are painted black compared to the 02+ headlights.

i'd love to hear some feedback, except for that i need rims haha... the rims will be something special indeed...

LOOKS GOOD....lets see that belly https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

you'll have to get a different setup to get that even flow.... piping on the left is shorter than the right.

yeah....get them daytime pics please!!!!!!!!!!

i forgot to take the camera when i got them installed... i was anxious that day. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif maybe the next time i jack the car up i'll try to take some.

and no headers yet. i'd like to save up to get everything at once to completely overhall the intake/exhaust system. i actually took a pic of the rpw (i think?) v6 headers to the shop to ask them about true duals with those headers and completely custom dual cat back piping, but they said no, it would be too hard. i dunno, the more i look at it, the more i think it's possible, but who knows. they can't do mandrel either, btw. there's only one serious custom exhaust fab shop i know, but it's kinda far and i've never been there. i'd like to ask them though.

Hey man,
I been trying to see if it was possible to get dual on a galant for a while but no one has answered any of my e-mails. What type of kit did you get that had dual cutouts or did you modify the stock bumper?

sj420

it's a stock bumper that's cut out. go look at bigshun's cardomain page. his over axel routing is the one i used as a starting basis.

[b]yo SJ420, can you list the steps taken to dual the exhaust? Also, any reputable shop should be able to do this for me right? I live in NY.
Thanx.
P.S... Your shit looks tight, so does big shun's. I just wish his underbody pics were a lil better.

lol yeah i knew it would happen - just give me some credit for it https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

um yeah, i think any decent shop should be able to do it for you, but try to take pictures from bigshun's cardomain page. it'll save A LOT of trouble. i took mine to a local brake & muffler shop. they basically make a cut-out on the side of the existing pipe and attach a new pipe to it. the way they cut out and attach the new pipe will completely affect the exhaust flow, so make sure they do it right.

yeah, sj420..that GTZ on your trunk is tight!!!

the only problem i saw when mine were being fab'd was trying to make that "Y" so that the exhaust flow will flow evenly. if that "Y" is not made right then you can expect some uneveness.

true..i could've taken more pics but at the time i took those pics i was getting a tranny swap and there was SO MUCH stuff in the garage to look at....plus i was looking at a dodge avenger he had in there...ironic that i have one now.

[b]I was also wondering if instead of cuttin into the downpipe, and adding another piece, can they use a y shaped piece, and go from there?

P.S. Thanx Mike. I went down there by Shea before, they have pretty good prices, I'll probably do that.

that's what i asked the shop to do for me, but they just kept insisting no, so i didn't want to push it. imo, if you remove the last resonator, it's a perfect place for a y pipe, if you bend it correctly. it will be a LOT of pipe bending and welding and i'm sure they'll charge you more. try to ask them to put in a y pipe for you at all costs, and then just compromise if it's unreasonable.

For the TCS/ABS switch, did you use an external fuse and hardwire it into the stock fuse panel?

yep that's exactly what i did. well, i didn't cut any of the existing wiring though - i added fuse prongs to the fuse holder and the other wire off the switch so it clicks into the original fuse location
