Removal of black air box

Ok just got my filter/mas adapter in. But i have a question about taking off the stock filter box. Ok i got the two 2 bolts that actually hold in on (the one infront and the one attached to the wheel well thing) But i cant get the last of the 4 bolt that are attached to the MAS. When looking at the engine in front, i cant get the one that is on the bottom and to the right. U know.

Also i noticed that the box extends underneath the MAS section. Does this remove also. I htink it does right. ANd also there a section that is attached the the box located between the battery, fusebox and the left fender. Does this peice stay?

Is there any helpful hints that can make this easier and to get that last "Hidden" bolt to the MAS?? Thanks

It all comes out. But you have to take out the battery to take out one part. Just look closer for all the screws/bolts. I think there was two pieces that I could not take appart, but I was taking them both out anyway, so I didn't bother with it.

If you just have the filter/MAS adapter setup, it would be benificial for you NOT to remove that part behind the fusebox/battery/left fender. This will blow cool air at your new filter :wink:

Honestly i has been to long for me to remember how to take out the air box, I do know I did not have to remove the battery though.

yeah thats what i thought about the piece behind the battery. I guess i'll figure it out.....did you have any trouble getting all the bolts attached to the MAS?? There just one that is sandwiched in a small area i just dont know how to get to it. Thanks for the help

For a couple of those bolts I recall that I used an extension on my socket wrench. 8 inches should do it. Doesn't hurt to practice your Yoga skills either.

Take out the whole intake (from air box to the rubber pipe that connects to the TB)

This will allow you to get to the screws on the MAS.
Plus it will be tons easier to work with your intake system.

ok i just the filter on and everything. Just one last question is it suppose to sitt lower than it was before??? Without the box theres no sopprt under the filter so it just hangs there?

you can just leave it hanging. uhm you might wanna check the filter from time to time to make sure it on there tight. the pipe is flexible. uhm you can amke some kinda bracket, use the bolt holes for the MAS adaptor and MAS to hold the bracket in and then find a place to bolt the other side in, or maybe bolt it up to the stb or something

hey seth.. how does that home depot 4-3 reducer hit on the back of the
MAS on the oval part? does it fit snug? or do you have to clamp that siht down like a mo fo...just wondering cause i have a regular 3-2 reducer and it looks like its about to snap. get back at me. thanx

its too big so you have to do a lot of tightening...a 3.5"to 3" adaptor would work best, but they did not have any at Home Depot. oh well this works just as well
