Removing air box

I remeber removing two big parts of the airbox to put my K&N filters.
But soembody in other post said we should leave something on the left fender battery side thingy to let the cool air.....so does that mean we remove only 1 parts of the air box?? Just half the box?

you keep the lil funnel thing on (optional) to help channel air towards the filter

Ya, it's actually a 3rd peice. When you take the air box out ( both peices) you will see what we mean. It's a air duct that takes cool air from aroud the headlight and directs it to your air box. It's goes behind and around your fuse box.
