go to a few audio shops and talk to them

as well, do a google search on custom trunk audio set-ups just takes an imagination and some money.

i got my amp mounted straight on the board over the spare...had to get thicker wood tho, just traced the orig on it and cut it out. The old amp was sinking into the spare bay. Needed the thicker board to hold the new amp and power cap. If you wanted you could just get some mdf board and make it flush with the trunk like in the pic. either that or just mount the box.

its just cuttin wood and carpet. you should try to do it yourself and save some money. here is my trunk. cost me like, 25-30 bucks in wood, and maybe 20 bucks in carpet. took me about 4 or 5 days to do.

so how bad was your trunk rattle? My wing doesnt really vibrate, its that little piece on the trunk that says galant, that thing actually flexes out when my speaks hit. I got the dynamat extreme trunk kit...still gotta install it tho...

i had a mild rattle, it was the key hole i believe, the mechanism behind the key hole and shit. the only bad rattle i had was my drivers side rear quarter panel for some reason. but, i dynamatted it, and it was fine

the CF wing didn't rattle or nothing. it sounded awesome.

15s gettin sloppy and 15s givin low rumble....has nothin to do with size...but how the sub is made and what frequencies it can handle...my idmax 12s hit lower than just about anything you can throw at them...and will hit higher and sharper than just about anything....you get what you pay for with car audio...if you pay 50 bucks a sub...and wonder why 1 12" sub that costed 150 can outbeat you and sound better....then you shouldn't have bought 2 50 dollar subs....

goin with a pair of the PSW610's. they are in the 600 series. i gotta go with 4ohms if i wanna bridge my amp. which of course i do.

SilverDragonGTZ

eh, i think for the money you could do better than the alphasoniks....and a good way to check your amp...if it REALLY puts out the power it says...look at the fuses on the amp....for every 10amps...its 100watts...for example...2 50amp fuses means 1000watts....if your amp has a 2 30amp fuses....and it says 1200watts...sorry you're only gettin 600watts MAX....best way i've found that subs hit without rippin your back seat apart and makin an entire fiberglass trunk/box...is like this....all the way at the back of the trunk...firing up or right against the trunk lid...and if you guys want to see flex...i have a quarter-hop vid...just hit me up on AIM "silvergtz02" to see it

nasty trunk rattle doesnt even describe it....nope, no dynamat....but if you put your hands on the sides of my trunk...where it closes...when the bass is up...and it hits you can feel air push through the sides....its kinda cool.... https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

lookin for something like this... what i figured I'd do is measure across the natural "opening" in the trunk to have a box fit somewhat flush in there... take a piece of colored plexiglass and mount the subs in the box w/ the plexiglass in between... cutting the slots for the torsion bar like the pic... thumbs up/thumbs down?

*thumbs sideways*

few things concern me.

first of all, the thickness. if the plexiglass is too thin then all it would do is just rattle. also the upper outside parts next to the cutouts for the trunk arms, they can break pretty easily. with just plexi if you plan on using the trunk as a trunk.

if you get the thicker plexi, thats more $$. it'll be more durable though and more stable than the normal stuff you find at the hardware store

then with the mounting. instead of sandwhiching the plexi between the box and the subs, i'd just do a slightly larger cutout. in most cases you want a really good seal between the box and the subwoofer and that can be hard to achieve when you have a sheet of plexiglass in between.

Serstylz2
11-26-2004, 04:36 PM
i guess i didnt take ALL of that into consideration...

do you think it would be better to cut holes in the plexi where my subs would mount so it would be a direct connection with the box and subs? maybe plexi was bad terminology.. basically what im looking for is to built a "wall" in a sense.. so that my system looks flush mounted and I will still have some trunk space left in front of it..

pinoyesv6

i'd make the cutout in the plexi so that its a lil bit larger than the speaker. in other words the edge of the plexi touches the edge of the speaker itself. have like some maybe fancy screws to connect the piece of plexi to the box or something like that.
