Go gloss black on the grill. The triple diamond emblem is up to you. Should look good either way.

By the way, I took the _thumb out of the url of the images so they would show up properly in your post.

i've been thinking about shaving that emblem

i say start off with a black primer. that will leave with a finish that is like flat black paint. if you don't like it then i'd start laying on the gloss black.

as for the emblem. i kept mine there. i think it helps bring some contrast to the front of the car...

but the decision is totally yours.

Just remember the "glossier" the apint you use, the greater any imperfections you have will show up. Gloss black would look best with no imperfections, but satin black is better if you have slight nicks, etc. that you don't want to stand out...

Mine is gloss metalic black and the emblem is metalic blue. Gives it custom look if you want to call it that.

Use a hacksaw or a dremel

In addition to a hacksaw and dremel, I used a solder iron to get out the side ribs on the grill.

damn, u guys getting all high tech. took me no more than 10 minutes to cut out my slats with a coping saw. the blade is so small that i could get into the smalles of areas no problems.

matt just used his i believe swiss army knife to cut out the slats. its not rocket science.

Can you please explain to me, what angle Matt sawed at? Also what kind of metal was the blade made out of? And finally could you desribe to me what kind of bite pattern I should look for, in choosing an ideal saw for this project?

I painted both my front and rear Mitsubishi emblems black. Was very easy, did it over 6 months ago, is holding up great and looks awesome. Goes good with the scheme of my car. 01 GTZ, Dover White, 15% Tint (BLACK!!), Rain Guards, Blackouts, Chrome 18s..
