Replacement carpet....WHERE CAN I GET SOME?

I'm going to paint the inside, from the geagh tan and brown to silver and green (exterior is the metallic green).
I would also like to replace the carpet, to change color, but also because it's quite worn.
But I've searched online for half the day and can't find a source for replacement carpet for a 7G galant!!!!!! PISSING ME OFF!!

I've seen some for 6G's a few times, but damn! I know the aftermarket support for Galant's is small, but there is replacement carpet available for everything else, Fuccin' AMC Gremlin is even available! BUT NO GALANT!
seriously pissing me off!
Does anyone know where to find a good replacement carpet at?

You have 2 choices.
Get a really good steamer and some industrial glue and lay your own carpet, or paint what ya got.

I chose to paint mine, it took a lot, but the results are solid. Only real disadvantage is that it doesn't wear great (Before I found my floormats)

I wonder what an upholsterer would charge to custom make a carpet?
Maybe I'll check it out this weekend.

Undoubtabley they will charge more than the $20 in paint that it would take to do it yourself.

Most places that do interiors (recovering seats, replacing dashes, etc) can replace your carpet to make it look however you want. I know a guy that had the whole interior of his Saturn done in "cow" print. Seats, carpet, dash, everything. So I know it can be done, as for the cost.... I also remember on the old site, someone posted a site that did sell replacement carpet for all Galants (6g and later at least) But I don't remember the site.

Yes. The headliner took 4 coats to get it even! The bad part is that the headliner doesn't come out of the car (in a nice way), so I had to spray it while it was on. Which (for those who haven't already done this math) meant that I had to be inside my car while spray painting fabric above my head. There was sooooo much overspray flying around that it covered everything. I was coughing up black stuff for a week.

Kids, remember paint is bad! It is cheap, addictive and can only lead to more paint.

It doesn't look like this should be that hard, I've never laid car carpet, but I would think all you would need to do is remove your current interior carpet, create a template marking where you need to cut slits for things like seatbelts etc. Purchase bulk interior carpet (and underpadding) in the correct width + 10-20% for your application. Trace your template on the back of the existing carpet make sure the piece is wider than needed so it can be tucked under the plastic trim pieces on the floor. Install underpadding, then carpet. I'm not sure how the carpet in the car is held down now, but I would think some sort of fabric glue is it. Material cost should be <$150 I would think. Labor is free since you can do it yourself.

yeah definately spraying it is the way to go, as long as you have floor mats so you dont have to keep respraying the trouble spots every few weeks.

i sprayed mine with the duplicolor that everyone else is talking about and it took a couple coats to get even, but i ended up doing my door panels, headliner (and yeah you do cough up black stuff for a week even with a HEPA mask on... the stuff is brutal in an inclosed area) and even my leather seats. The duplicolor fabric and vinyl paint is by far the best value for your needs and you will be more than impressed with the results.
