Does anybody use those enhancment chips and do they really work??? I read some post but I noticed no one really talks about them. I just realized that there are some many on ebay, that's what made me ask. I did A search and typed the words "speed chip" but I didn't get the answer that I'm really looking for. Are they worth it???

IMO i would just do it all at once. I am bone stock as well. I am gonna have a custom cat-back exhaust setup made with 2.25" piping, along with a custom CAI. It is cheaper for me to do it this way. Rather than doing it piece by piece.

awesome is an understatement, that shade of blue looks even better then the one Baccus has been working on for me..

Im pretty sure ( more so hoping) Drastic will take another couple of days out his schedule to put it back in the paint shop to do a little touch up's..Cause if we noticed it its surely going to draw negative attention at a car show or something.....IMO

Whoa!! I'm glad everyone likes the blue https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif It's a kandy cobalt blue with a bit of puple in it. Unfortunately they didn't paint my door jams so their still white (The original color)! I've been adding all kinds of strobe lights and l.e.d.s. in the front of the car so at night I'm guranteed to be able to pull over anybody I want! That is so fun by the way https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

Yeah  All that is still white. I didn't think that the paint shop would paint that anywayz. Do they ever? I'll get it touched up before a serious car show 'cause I hate opening the door and seeing the white. :x

for a lil bit extra money the body shop will paint anything. if you want they can take out the motor and paint the engine bay too.

If you do plan on taking it back to the paint shop and planning on them to take out the engine, lets hope that they are reputable. Not all paint shops are master mechanics....

Btw, nice color.

Not nearly enough to be considered artistic. BTW, the paint job cost me well over $1,000 and the guy told be that it would be difficult to mix that color exactly again. I can only imagine what he would charge to paint the engine bay + labor and all that.

BTW I might still get a body kit so I should probably wait on the paint.

And Fishboy I don't remember the Paint code but I'll find out when I go back for a quote on getting the areas that aren't painted done.

I asked the body shop that put my kit on how much they would charge to repaint the entire car in which they would have to strip everything apart, and they said it would be around $4-$6,000 depending on the paint.

maximus99
02-07-2005, 01:37 PM
That sounds high to me.To repaint my Corvette would be around $5-6000(not top show quality),and fiberglass more difficult to get right,& its a slightly larger surface area. Does that include mounting a body kit?

Drastic
02-07-2005, 05:10 PM
 Those prices are rediculous! I paid less than $6000 for my galant and you guys are saying it cost that much to get the whole car painted? Since when has paint been that expensive!

maximus99
02-07-2005, 06:51 PM
Yeah,I dont think it would be good to paint a $4150 car for $6000,unless of course it was gonna be a show quality car.But if that was the case,I would have found a better car

Do you guys have any idea how much work is involved in stripping a car to paint everything properly. I'm talking the engine bay, door jambs, trunk, etc. While my car was getting the body kit installed, they were hooking up a 240SX. They were completely repainting the whole car, fixing rust and dings, and installing a body kit as well as some custom fabrications to the body... all for $10,000. Also, keep in mind that I'm in New York, where prices for this kind of thing are high. Plus, this shop does good work and you get what you pay for.

IMO, any car to the owner is worth painting. My car is worth painting. Iw as qouted to strip it all and everything as if it were in the factory and painted for $5-7,000. just for jet black. now they wet sand it and everything to make it high gloss and no "orangepeel paint"

Of Course https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif But seriously I've heard that repainting a car a color thats different from the original automatically decreases the value of it. I don't agree especially if it makes the car more attractive! But still $5,000 + is a lot of money to me. Maybe its because I'm only 18, no job right now, and getting ready for college.

Oh, yeah, I definitely can't see spending that kind of money on a paint job if it's more than what the car costs. But, if you want a quality show car, that's necessary. Look at all the work some of us have done to our rides. I know I've spent alot more on mods than what my car is worth right now. Hell, I'm close to spending the same amount of money on mods as my car cost brand new.

Thankx Shortdogg https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

You got a point Danger, its just that I'd feel alot better spending money on various mods simply because I'd be getting more for my money. Hell I got so many lights flashin on the front of my car now I could pull anybody over https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif But theres no way right now I'd spend that much on one thing.

BTW is there an option other than paint to cover door jams and trunk crevices, etc. Like Vinyl or you know something like that. I wonder if I could fiber glass something to cover up the door jams...hmmmm... just a thought :dumbass: =me

Of course,I'd rather spend a "reasonable" amount on items that make the car better handling & better performing, but not $5-10,000 worth.Shoot, rite now I'm scheduled to pay almost 25% of the price I paid for the car, just to change out the drive & timing belts, etc.!
