Hi Guys,

I'm newbie here and I'm from Brazil. I love Galant and now I have enought money to buy my Car and do an upgrade in it.
Well, I'm looking the perfect Galant and I have a doubt about what model is the better to performance tuning. I can choice for VR-4 and VR-6 1998 year.

I know that in this forum we have a lot of people with huge experience in Galant performance tuning and I'd like to know what is the preference of Forum members.

I'm really newbie and any help and comment will be welcome.

Thanks for all and I'm waiting the replies to buy and start my Galant project!

Best Regards,
Leonardo Oliveira.

Welcome to the board Leo.

vr-4 is a twin turbo v-6 and is the holy grail amongst USDM galant owners. VR-6 is a volkswagen https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif
I think what you meant was the VR-G which is only a 4cyl...but I believe (correct me if wrong) the standard engine on the VR-G had MIVEC.

Also keep in mind that only in the USA was the 97 & 98 galant a 7th generation body style.

Hi jluv97,

Tks for reply. Here in Brazil we have VR-6 model. I'm not sure what's the generation but you can look the site below to see the model 98 with V6 2.5 litres motor.

Only a doubt, VR-4 have 6 cylinder in V with a twin turbo or it's 4 cylinder?

Regards,
Léo.

id go with the 6 only if u plan on doing some type of forced induction.
but the vr-4 is the easiest way to go fast.

if its the 8g we're talking about. the body style u had pictured, i'd go with the vr4. the vr4 has the v65 motor. plus the twin turbos and the awd.
