the 94 was a 7g the 92 was a 6g(U.S.) and yes they were different.

Not exatly sure on the production years for the japanese 7g, but the 3 piece style tail lights are the only style produced for the j spec 7g. The 7g tails vary only in 2 different versions, the ones on our usdm 94 - 96 7g is the most common and easy to find, and then there's the extremely hard to find vr4 diamond edition version, which is similar to the 4 piece 97- 98 tails, except its the 3 piece version.
