Im looking to go to a 5 speed and someone told me that i can use a eclips tranny and ecu caz the 2.4 are the same.. but my dad said mistu said if i do it there is a chance i might never pass smog again.. do they make trannys the newer galants?? i got a 03 i4 btw??

Not to sound like an asshat, but do a search. Yes you can use a 3g eclipse 5spd tranny and all the parts from it for the conversion. Swapping trannies will not do anything to the smog, cept you will get better gas milage with a 5spd transmission.

no need to change the ECU on either the 7G or 8G. ****SEARCH****

the swap itself wont prevent u from passing smog tests. but the check engine light will. need to swap out to a 99 or 2000 ecu
