It's two seperate pieces. They just screw together.

uhh...i'm not talking about the trim piece. I'm talking about the whole door panel.

you mean you have the leather interior and you are talking about the padded vinyl parts??

you can mask it off. with plastic, tape. whatever.

or you can melt the plastic rivets that hold them in and remove the panel.

I wasn't talking about the trim piece either. I have painted my door panels and the leather piece on mine was two seperate pieces, the plastic and then the leather. All I had to do was unscrew it.

hmm...any pictures of how it's screwed in? Did you just screw into the glue/plastic or whatever for it to stay? Thanx againwell i dont have pics but its easy,,,u see how when u take the doors apart ,,,,there are lil white plugs that are melted flat..the part that holds it together is just a melted piece of plastic,,,,,,,if u cut that top circle part offf, (melted part) u will be left with just a hole which u can put a screw in,,,sorta like the regular holes that u screw on to take off and put on ure armrests,,,trims etc.....these screws will now be whats holding it together when u put everything back..just find screws that fit snugin the hole that the melted part that u took off was in,,,,get u some washers and thats it,,,,,,,,,,,its really ghetto how mitsu put together these doors btw,,hope that helps

I have the service manual on my comp so i'll take the panels off for sure and paint each piece individually. Just for those who are going to paint their trim pieces, make sure you sand the crap out of the pieces so there's ABSOLUTELY NO parts that are even slightly shiny, the primer won't stick and it does some weird bubbly thing and looks shitty. I had to resand 3 pieces and it was a bitch. I should have done a tutorial for this. I could have made an awesome one. Anyone want me to do it? I still have half the car to do so i can show all the pieces still.

Yes please! Interior is my next project. I'll probably go to a junk yard and take the dash/panels/door cover's etc. out of it just to practice painting it because I'd hate to mess mines up and be SOL. But anywayz go ahead and put up a tutorial. I'm sure plenty others would find it useful including myself.

Yes krispy i know you did yours too. You did a good job too. I'm talking about doing the tutorial with the panels as well. I'll start working on the tutorial monday when my parents are back in town with the good digital camera. I'll try to include the back side of the door panels, which i have never seen online before. Any body have anything you want me to focus on? I'll do a half way point tutorial with just the trim pieces and then add the panels onto it later.

There is a tut at DNA Racing ('http://www.dnaracing.net/thegarage_8Gpainttrim.htm'). I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for.

That one is pretty good. Should i still do it anyways? Or should i just do panels?

Naa that tut. is pretty detailed. Unless you just want to. You might find something he missed.

Krispey what material is that on your door

Mine is cloth or somthing like that. Do you have vinyl or something. I think that would make a good tutorial

I was just thinking about painting the panels and maybe...just maybe, put some kind of material over the vinyl. possibly new vinyl. It would have to hold up to alot of heat cause vegas gets very hot. 115 some days...that's outside the car, so the inside would be extremely hot. Censee did you lay down some new material?
