i just got my 02 es 4 cylander 3 days ago and i had 18" 7 spoke polished black giovanna rims put on wrapped in falken (think thats the spelling) rubber. let me just say one thing. the handling is atleast 200 times better then with the stock wheels and tires. i never noticed how much better a car handles with rims and tires until i got the rims put on. i just wanted to share that because i was in awe at the handling i gained just from changing the tires.

Wait until you lower it and add a STB.

Yeah with enough work you'll feel like you're driving a 3 series https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Eh well supposedly all Car and Driver did was upgrade the wheels, tires, and lower the Galant and it pulled .8 something g...a 330i usually hits .86 so I guess they came close https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

hey I went Car and Driver and they made a long term test on a Galant GTZ. At 40k miles they put on 17" inch wheels, new high performance tires, and they lowered the car by 1.4" (front) and 1.3" (rear). At the skidpad the Galant GTZ got 0.85 g, 0.08 higher then when it was new. However, they also mention that it performed better than an M3 by 0.01 g. In other words, by lowering your G-ride getting new rims and tires, it can significantly improve your handling even outperforming some high performance cars (i.e. M3). Include a STB and now we're talking... But of course by achieving better handling there are a couple of tradeoffs in the process. If you wanna know more about this check out this article @ http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caranddrive...class=44&page=4 ('http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caranddriver/features/2000/June/200006_feature_mitsubishi_galantgtz.xml?&Manufacturer=Mitsubishi&Name=Galant&class=44&page=4')

I'm definitely a firm believer that wheels and a GOOD set of low profile tires can do wonders for your ride in terms of handling. It's true that other suspension upgrades will help but nothing as big a factor as a nice set of wheels and high performance tires. The single most important factor for handling, putting power down to the pavement, and braking! Sure it's also one of the more expensive mods but it's the best place to start that can cover these three areas.
