Hi guys I am new hear and for the record I'am still just a rookie in the car tunning. However I finnally got some money goin along with my W2s so I was thinking about doin the 4g63 motor swap that my friend ( which will be doin most of the work) and I were goin to do. But the other day he tells me that his mitsu friends say that its a waste of a good motor and it wont help much. Iam not here to start a flame but I was upset. So I was wondering if any one could get me some feed back on this? Cuz if this is right, were planning on putting a DOHC on the 4g64 with about 5 pounds of boost. Which I think we be enough? I think, if you can help me in anyway I ll greatly appriciate it.

I say, keep your motor, and continue with plan b.

The 4g64 with the 4g63 DOHC head and turbo would probably be the best choice, but the most work. The 4g63 motor swap would be nice because you can run higher boost on the stock internals. The rods are the weak point in the 4g64 7 bolt motor, so boost would have to be kept to a minimum unless you build the motor. The other option is turbo charging the 4g64 with the SOHC stock head. Probably the cheapest and easiest way to add some power.

My personal choice is the turbocharged 4g64/63 hybrid.

Well he did say he only wants to run 5lbs of boost, so he should be good to go  Good luck.

there were no 7g LS's with the v6. there were 7g v6's but not here in the US. there was the GS which was still 2.4L but had a DOHC head on top.

how many miles do you have on your car now?? i know with my car, if i was going to attempt to do something similar, i'd go ahead and get a new motor. build that up a lil bit and then drop it into my car. no use of adding all these things to a motor if its on its way out of the door.

Why not just take the $500.00-$1,000.00 you would spend on a used stock motor and spend that on building the motor you have in your car?

Stock 4G64 can handle higher than 5psi by the way. If you're just looking for a nice bump in power, turbo the SOHC stock motor.

ONE ADVANTAGE MAYBE IS THAT IF YOU DO AN ENGINE SWAP YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT COMPATIBILITY PROBLEMS AND THE 4G63 HAS MORE AFTERMARKET PARTS...AND IT IS A 4G63.

BUT I GUESS THERE ARE MORE SURPLUS PARTS THERE THAN THERE IS HERE SO MAYBE WHATEVER CHOICE YOU DO WOULD BE OKAY.
