You might also want to consider installing hood pins...or you could end up like this guy. The C/F hood hood lock hook failed and well...the pics tell the story.

My brother's a mechanic and he was test driving a piece of shit neon with hood pins. I should say toggle bolts (like from home depot). He said the car was rigged in everyway possible; nothing was done right on the car. And he had a big fat APC sticker across the windsheild (just to give you a mental picture of the car). He test drove it, hit a bump in the road and the hood pins (toggle bolts) snapped and the hood slammed into the windsheild. My brother was so pissed that he left the car there, walked back to the shop, called the customer and told him where he could pick up the car. What's fucked up is the guy bitched so much that they ended up buying him a new hood and windshield.

Sorry alittle off topic, but it was a funny story.
