heating problem

my 94 had a leak in one of the radiator hoes the car was running and the coolant leaked all out i got it fixed but now it reves its self for like 5 minutes and within thoes five minutes the temp needle goes just a little bit more then the middle of the temp. meter could this be cause by a damaged thermostat if so where can i get one besides the dealership?? :evil:
