in most states they are illegal, the best way to get away with them is using red LED tail bulbs.

the taillights are not illegal perse, as long as you have some type of red deplector on the side of the rear bumper cops cant stop you.

yeh, you guys are right, i was just talking about the tails themselves. and i dont really know how nice it would look to have random red deflectors on the back of our bumpers... :?

i think their might have to be red on it at all times, cuz if u dont have your brakes on, then the cops will just see white everywhere. i could be wrong, i dunno.

you don't have to have your foot on the brake all the time to have red. just put in red parking light bulbs and make sure you keep them on.

in reality, all the jdm tails are illegal since they aren't DOT approved. but yea, cops don't pull you over as much if they are remotely legal.

well technicly they are illegal. but yes, only because they have no red reflectors on them. i rode for a good 5 months witout betting bothered. and i wouldnt have gotten pulled over if i just got decent bulbs for it. when i got home and looked the off-brand bulbs i had for the brake lights had burnt to a nice bright orange color :roll: and the bright filiment had burnt out. so i think thats why i really got pulled over is becuase all that was lighting up was the spoiler leds and the window brake light.(and because it was superbowl night, they were checkin to see if i was drunk) most cops will just get behind me and follow me and give a puzzled look becuase they can't figure out wether they are legal or not.(thanks to cars like the xb,and some older buick models.) and and then leave. oh and xucco99. they are hard to find. i just got really really lucky. if it helps i got them from a guy on ebay who ships from japan. his name is (JPspecs) but hes not selling them anymore. and i got his last mabie only pair last year. good luck though. PM me again if you need more help. i might be able to track him down for you. but i doubt he'll have them.
