Has anyone here ever tried to dye the leather seats or vinyl on the door panels of their galant? I tried searching on the forum but couldnt find anything. I am thinking of doing it but wanted to see if anyone tried it and what the results are. Thanks.

i read on here that you can buy paint (like spray paint) specifically for cloth interior of cars...i'm sure that it would work on the panels, i want to try it. check out AutoZone or somewhere like that.

i haven't used the vinyl dye but i have used the cloth spray dye. i don't like it. it makes the texture of the cloth all hard and like sandpaper. or at least it did for me.

i think spray painting the cloth is the ghetto way of doing it,,,,why not just reupholstering it?? will look alot better

well it wasn't for the galant. it was for the GTi. my A-pillars are grey cloth. i used the dye because well, there are airbags inside of the pillars and yea. dying it was the easy way to do it. too much risk to wrap it. gotta worry about taking it out and then making sure i don't fuck it up when i try to wrap it and then i still have that risk the airbags might not deploy right if i wrap it.

but on other places wrapping it or reuplostering it, i agree is a better option.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid request but could you define reupholster for me. Is there a way to take the cloth off and then replace it with another material (vinyl or something) I'd like to do mine too.

would it be better to take off the vynil or just lay FG over it? https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

would be better to take off the fiberglass and lay some carbon fiber on it https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

depending on where it is yea. i mean i wouldn't want to fiberglass over my seats. i like my seats soft and comfy.

maybe wrap it with CF cloth and not use any of the hardners. hmm lol. not practical though .
