my mom has a 2004 gts, fully loaded every single option, and is does NOT come with hids.
now i dont know if the 05's do, but my moms lights are definitely ugly halogen bulbs.
it has the different tails and headlights, but no hids.

^^ are you sure? Or did you add it up yourself? As far as I know, o4 and 05 Galants don't supply HIDs with the factory headlights. Also, even if they did, I don't think it will pass the DOT test stuff because the smoked housing is black but also very reflective that causes very intense glare even if you have the projector. I had to open mine up and put temporarily some electrical tape to limit the glare from the glossy surface.

well for sure that the GTS headlights take 9006 low and 9005 high. Maybe they have upgraded it on the 05 models but I don't think so.

i was just on the mitsu site and their are no mention of HID's. how many bulbs sit behind the actual oval low beam projector on the GTS, is it one per side or 2?

one per side on the oval/projector, 9006 bulb. The non projector is under that oval projector that uses 9005 bulb. So there are 4 total bulbs.

they dont have them.

In their current design, they cant use them anyway, because the DRLs cycle the headlights at 80 percent of full luminescence. A HID bulb would fry.

having said that, they're quite bright for standard halogens.

The '04 models are some what different than the 05 models i have an 04 and just like they said it came with 8 speakers it only comes with 6...just like they said it comes with hid it doesnt just the cover is different..they upgraded the 05 to go with what they had printed in their brochures...

the oem galant will never have hids on them. never.

if they do, it will be in the later future if no one uses halogens anymore.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I'll be getting HID GTS headlights put in my '04 LS pretty soon. I'll post pics once it's done. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

unless you rewire the whole headlight circuit, you will wreck your HIDs in short order.

not to mention the fact that its illegal...

You may want to check out some of the other threads in this forum. You can bypass your DRL by using the fog light power supply. Ask 9G about this, he did it successfully. And it didn't require a "whole rewire" of your headlight circuit. It's a matter of switching a couple wires, that's all.

that would be considered rewiring.
