Nope. I don't see why. Metal intakes tend to get hot under the hood so I am keeping it the way it is.

looks nice, what kind of filter is that? i wanted to know if there is a difference at all from throwing on a filter like that or getting a CAI?? I know the tubes are different, but does it actually make a difference??

The filter is a REWorks. The only difference with this intake and a CAI is that the CAI is it looks better, and installation takes a bit longer. And oh yeah it does make a big difference. God I love that sound!!!

I paid $13 for shipping and everything.

Well after I installed the intake I took the car out and I shut off on me. I was like what the fuck. Well I came back and AIM SerStylez and he told me to disconnect the battery for about 1/2 hour, I did and now it runs like a dream.

actually the polished intake doesn't get that hot under the hood...but i must admit i found it odd for you to disconnect the battery when installing that...i just took the oem on off and installed the injen one, and it worked fine...i guess every G is different

I guess every G is different. When I had my Jetta I did disconnect the battery so that the ECu can reset. But as soon as I was done with the installation I drove it and it was fine. And you know what they say "be safe and disconnect the battery" LOL https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

well you can lose some weight if you remove the part of the intake that you aren't using. and if that isn't enough to convince you, you can get better air circulation with the bottom removed.

The thing is, without that mount their, the intake will sag down, and rub on something. It acts as a way to hold it up.

5 minutes and a 50 cent angle bracket from the hardware store could support the MAS just as easily as the lower intake

I was going to build a heat shield out of some metal in about a week so this setup is temporary.

I have some shit that I will mount as support to keep it from tilting downwards like that.

I've also ordered this:

I hate DIY ... so I order finished shit and throw it in there. Looks better also https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Hey, I just bought a K & N filter with the adapter for the sensor...just wonderin if you could give me some basic info for when it comes and I install it...

Should i disconnect the harness from the sensor before i start removing everything past it (air box etc...)?

Did the ECU get messed up immediately once you tried to drive it?

I wonder if the increase in airflow will make my muffler sound even better https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ...Borla + K&N...that's a good combo

i would. the MAS is bolted onto the airbox cover. if you don't disconnect the harness, you have to unbolt the two pieces while still under the hood. if you disconnect it you can go wherever you feel comfortable and take things apart. the last thing you want to do is haev your socket or something slip and damage the honeycomb because u were trying to take things apart in some awkward position.

i also recommend that you disconnect the battery before starting installation.

Did the ECU get messed up immediately once you tried to drive it?

the ecu will only get messed up if you messed up somewhere. meaning you forgot to unplug something during dissambly, or you forgot to do soemthing during assembly.

I wonder if the increase in airflow will make my muffler sound even better https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ...Borla + K&N...that's a good combo

i don't know how loud your muffler is but my injen intake scream much louder than my muffler ever did on my car

Also when you install the intake make sure you leave off the battery cable(-) for about an hour and when you connect it let the car idle for about 10-15 minutes. And BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE MAS SENSOR. Good luck on your install if you need any help PM me.

i don't know where all you guys are getting your ecu's but my ecu resets almost instantly. i disconnect the cable. flip the lil switch on my ratchet to make it tighten and then put it back on. ecu reset.

Mine didn't. The car bogged, idle RPM fell and it kept shutting off. It got fixed when I did what did. You know the saying no 2 G's are the same.

Do they have these types of filters available at like an Autozone or Pepboys? I searched online and all I could find was stock replacement ones for these companies.

For all who wants this filter I will check if we are getting anymore and let you know the price. If you want one PM. I'll check at the end of the week to give enough time for everyone to get themselves together.

I thought I'd throw in a pic with my heat shield and support for the air filter mounted:

Doesn't tilt any more and looks much nicer with the shield.

I put in a K&N High-flow intake and I didn't take off the battery cable.. But my car isn't shutting down or anything for me.. I just noticed a drop in take-off, though.. Any suggestions? Do you think if I reset my ECU it would get better?

Should help very much, did for me and it was interesting to feel the ECU, "relearn" the air flow curve, adjusted itself within 2-3 days. Right now your ECU thinks its still getting the same amount of air as with the stock restrictive filter even though its seeing more.

what do you do to reset the ECU...if I remember correct its just disconnect the the neg battery terminal for like 15 mins right...if you still have the stock radio you'll need the radio code to get it to work.

I believe it was the positive https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif, or for fun you can do both. 15-30 outta do it https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif. Some say its instant, but I'd give it time just incase.

its safer to reomve the negative since it is ground. but after removing the ground, if you want you can remove the positive.

What's the part number for that K&N filter?...It's only that part you bought....or it comes with the metal tubing also :?:

Now i'm experinecing the ghetto intake to see.....and it sure sounds incredable  ...i like it https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ...and i feel a little response increase in the engine....

So i would like to put something a little more esthetic like your's

skylineg1,
can you give me the part number for that reworks air filter and the adapter?

i'm seeing a lot of that combination on ebay and some go as low as $5.00!

i also clean my engine with a power washer everytime it needs cleaning, do you have to take that off and avoid getting it wet or just wrap it with something like a plastic maybe when cleaning?

Filtration is just fine for me. I cleaned it using a toothbrush and the K&N Filter Charger Cleaner.

It is true that Oil Gauze filters have the worst Filtriation, which is really bad for you engine. if you accuratly research about it, you will know.

Oil Foam (not just Foam) filters have almost the same filtration as Paper (which has the highest Filtration) and Oil Foam have a quite high air flow.
In Fact, if you can get a CONE PAPER filter (if they make it) will have the mightest Filtration + better air flow than Plat Panels.

and Please tell me, is your Reworks filter made of paper or Oil Gauze?

Seems as though they sold you. I've been using both HKS Filters and K&N's and yet to have any problems. The REWorks filter that I'm running now is pretty good and there is little to no dust in the intake the last tim eI cleaned it. The decision is yours.

a filter with good airflow AND good filtration is an oxymoron. think of it like this, a flyscreen will be the most free flowing filter but it will be terrible for dirt filtration. on the otherhand, a block of wood will filter out everything, but wont have good airflow. its true that an engine can only do so much with X amount of air. but for a filter to say that it filters better than the stock filter, u would think that it also sucks in less air.

autozone will most likely have to order it and it shouldnt take more then 3 days i know cuz i work at one and thats how long it took for mine
