Neel if your out there , this is for you! ..well kinda https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

I was installing a windshield today at a body shop and I looked over and saw some Projector headlights!...they were broken , SOOO

I was like hm.. I can make these work. So I grabbed them up , there were 2 of the headlights minor cracks in the amber part so of course they were junked by the shop.

Anyways I got everything cut away from the Projector lens and the housing , now I SEE that I can fit an actual headlight BULB in the housing hole https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif Extra bright ass Projector foglights here I come. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

u do realize that fog lights and headlights have very different beam patterns right? i'm not saying it won't work, but if your beam coverage is not good in bad weather after you do this, then that's why.

Donovan
05-05-2005, 08:28 PM
Hell bro, its just a project to see what happens https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

I'll get it to work and take some night patterns hopefully this weeken https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

yeah they do
but I was wondering this also
cause the new altima I saw has 9006 for the fog lights
and I know those are headlight bulbs
for the 7g for example

yeah that is common since it's the optics and reflectors that shape the beam pattern; the bulb is just a light source. for instance some headlights use H1 bulbs and some fog lights are H1 as well but they light up much different areas in comparison to each other even w/ the same bulbs.

I wonder how much money I just saved by finding these lens...

Its funny
When you put the lens up and look threw it , its distorted , almost all of it except the EXACT middle of the lens , thats cool because I guess all the light is focused to the middle. Prism like

This morning I saw a 98 Maxima with what look like HID fogs. They were white and bright as hell. I also saw an Impala with something similar. Very bright and white.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(neel9)</div><div class='quotemain'>if i had to replace the oem fogs to some driving lights will it Â*throw good light or no?</div>

I currently have driving lights on my car and they dont cast a beam like fog lights do this was discussed in another topic in this forum about fog lights and driving lights and a chart was posted with pictures of the beam that both a fog light and driving light casts side by side

heres the chart ('http://www.pilotautomotive.com/beam.htm')

heres the post ('https://www.thegalantcenter.org/viewtopic.php?t=36416')

also I saw foglights on EBAY I cant find them on there now, but they reminded me of the headlights on the Infiniti, with the multibeam in 1
they are aftermarket lights, there was also a pic of them on and the beam they cast, and they werent that expensive

I've been thinking , without Ballast , can the HID bulb still project a powerful light?..for the extreme brightness Im looking for?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Donovan)</div><div class='quotemain'>I've been thinking , without Ballast , can the HID bulb still project a powerful light?..for the extreme brightness Im looking for?</div>

Absolutly not. They need the ballast to work. HIDPLANET.com <<<<<<<<

Aw hell , here is whereit gets complex.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Donovan)</div><div class='quotemain'>I've been thinking , without Ballast , can the HID bulb still project a powerful light?..for the extreme brightness Im looking for?</div>

without a ballast an HID capsule cannot project light at all. HID has no filaments, like regular bulbs, and requires a ballast to keep the arc, which is the light source, from ending or blowing up the bulb. an igniter starts the arc and the ballast maintains it. some HID systems have the igniter and ballast in one box, others seperate them. in any case you need both of these and the capslue (bulb) for an HID sytem to project light. if you hook up an HID capsule directly to the headlioght wires, it will do nothing.

Donovan

thanks for clearing that up Reelax...

I was thinking about running wires from my headlights to the headilghts Ill be putting in the projector , so they would be to different brightnesses . Or running them to the parklights so I can have parkers on and projectors or just a seperate wire with an off and on switch inside run straight threw battery..

I just got some pictures of my parts and I wrote a lil sumtin to go along
with it , so as soon as I findsomeone to upload them for me You all can see what parts I have to work with and how the setup will look. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

05-07-2005, 10:24 AM
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/itsjustdaroc/my_photos ('http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/itsjustdaroc/my_photos')

There is the link of all my parts and... here is a lil something I type up.
---

Parts:
1. Lens: Projector lens
2. Lights: Silverstar brights
3. Lens housing: Lens housing from Lincoln town car 2002
4. Tubing: Plastic tube about 1 1/4 wide by 4 inches. (Probably will cut down)
5. Metal tubingSmall metal tube inside the black tube to hold the wires because of intense heat

You can see the lens are nice and round about 3 3/16 inches wide just enough to fit in
cyber 1 front bumper. The lights are OEM sized galant headlights but they are silverstar
powered for extra brightness. The housing from the 2002 Lincoln town car will hold tight
in the holes in my front bumper. The plastic tubing will go on the backside of the
projector housing to hold the wires and to make sure no moisture gets in(I"ll probably put
some sealant around the housing also). I'll use some type of small metal cylinder to run my
wires from the light out the housing threw the plastic tube so the wire wont burn up the
tubing.

I"ll run these lights off my parking lights , I had thought about running them from my
Headlights , because then it would be neat to have to different levels like high and low
beam from the fog lights:)...but I will save my headlights life https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

As you can see in the photo the order of how the parts will go together.

how were you planning on having hi/low functionality from these projectors? only projectors w/ selenoid activated shields can do that... they don't actually get brighter, they just move the internal shields to eliminate the beam cutoff when the hi beam is activated (bixenon projectors work this way). are you planning on putting H4 bulbs in these? you chould put the bulb meant for the projector in there for them to work correctly... different bulbs have different focal points and projectors are focused to work w/ the specific bulb they were made for.
