how many miles can u drive with the gas light on? do galants have a reserve?

I usually fill up before the light goes on, but I was just curios cuz on my mom's Rodeo, the light comes on and you have about a mile to go and then your stranded. But on my companys 96 Caravan, the light comes on, and u can drive on "Empty" for a few miles, then the needle will shoot up about a 1/2 of a 1/4 tank, going into reserve mode.

whats the deal wit our cars?

shooot.. when my gas light comes on.. ive driven... at leasttttt 20-25 miles.... that probably isnt the greatest thing to do.. but sometimes you get stuck.. but id say it should be a good idea to get gas when it comes on or before always...

I heard about 3 gallons also
I trust the light more then my guage causa when I changed my guages originally the set I had required the removal and the needles and that one hasnt been perfect since

my manual said 1.8 gallons. Now I just have to find out how many miles per gallon I get with my 17in. chrome rims on. I'm guessing about 20.

I've driven about 20-30 miles with the gas light on before. No problems. Once it comes on I usually make my way to a gas station though.

I've pushed mine to the extreme limit (ran out of gas twice). The first time, the light came on around ~250 miles on the tripometer (city driving). The second time I ran out of gas was at 274 and the light came on around ~241. To this day, I'll still stretch it. The light comes on at the 3/4 mark and I'll let it ride to the middle of the E. Anything below that and I'm on fumes.

The best I got was 354 miles on the tripometer before filling up. I was able to go to Modesto (from Sac), back home and then to Richmond and back and still drove back and forth to work for 2 days before filling up.

I'd agree with Donovan. The light comes on when it reaches around 3 gallons left, however, even when you run out, there is still about 1/2 gallon left in the tank.
