is this a direct bolt on to a 99 I4, or will there be any welding involved? and is that dyno just for the header or the catalytic converter was also installed ?

I confirmed from the maker CMF Fabrications, that the dyno results are with out the cat! And also he says "they are 150% direct bolt on"

Heres some more detailed info as far as pricing, perfomance etc from the club3g forum:

"Ok i got good news and i have bad news!

Lets go with the bad news first.

The bad news are that i was hoping for more torque then horsepower but that is just not the case, the header made more HP then TQ, sad indeed....

Now to the good news!

The good news is that the headers made 20.9HP and 19.2TQ TO THE WHEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (had you going with the bad news, didnt i )

I was blown away myself as i really wasn't expecting these numbers.

The header was tested on a 5-speed for those who want to know. Those of you who have an automatic transmission should really feel a major improvement with the power gain.

Besides the power gain, you will be happy to know the following. Fitment is dead on, 150% bolt on, no modifications needed. Check engine light is still not on, hopefully it will stay off due to the location of the o2 on the header (designed to be in the hottest spot on the header). Last but not least, sound! The car sound almost stock with the factory exhaust on it, when you rev it up its a little louder then stock but not enough to be noticed by anyone really. Cops would never pay attention to it since it is really close to stock in sound. I am sure with an after market exhaust the sound will increase but i still dont think it would be too loud.

......And..... NO RASP!!!!!!!!!! This system does not sound like a honda header, thank god! I was worried it would be a little raspy since it is a 4 cylinder but again, it sound great, no honda sound here.

Those who want the cat-pipe, it will be an additional $199.00 on top of the header price. The header retails for $499.00, however you can get it for $399.00 Until Sunday night.

Well, this project is over with and now we can move forward with production. How fast we get there is up to you guys, i am now excepting remaining and full payments for this system.

Thanx, Chase"

that's not bad if you plan on sds in the future or want to stay n/a... 20 horses from a bolt on is awesome, especially for an i4... the power will always be there... for the dude that got it for $299, good job...

forreal, if this was still 299 i'd get it hands down, congrats

Nice job for the perso that got it for 300 ,...its a bit pricey , but compared to some Nitrous for 475'; you wont blow your motor with the headers , and less work to install the headers , while the nitrous is potential problem if hooked up wrong naturally... But for 475 you get 55 shot.

Whom ever said something about for the SDS yeah.. good deal with that extra Forced induction she go with those nice headers.. yet the price ouch. 400 for 20hp.

Mix feelings.

He guys I just ordered the cmf headers for the G.I will let you guys know when they arrive and how the performance is.I am currently searching for a camshaft right now since the 8G camshaft is weak.Once I get some more specs on these I will update as well.I think the rpw is the only billet option but I am also looking at some regrinds from webcam and crower.Talk to ya soon.maximus

I'm hoping to get an extra 50+ horsepower with the header, custom intake manifold, camshaft and tuned with the safcII if not I will be installing a zex kit.Maybe I will install the zex kit anyways who knows.Later maximus

Hm.. good idea , https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif 50 with the header and run a 35 shot first man https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
Are you stick or auto

maximus
05-22-2005, 05:49 PM
I'm auto, the header will only give you about 20 horsepower +- I have a custom intake manifold like the venom one.I plan on getting a new high performance camshaft which should give me another 20-25 horsepower. Then i'm thinking of running a zex wet system with a 55 shot in it.After this is all tuned with a safcII I hope to be around 180-200 horsepower who knows.I will see once it is dynoed next month.later maximus

These headers look pretty damn good. If i had a i4 I might even consider getting them. Espcially considering that Ripps $1.1k headers can pull of close to double this with TUNING on the V6. Basicly for half the price, you get half the hp without tuning.

I have the CMF headers for the V6, they were pretty good build quality, no rust so far after about 1 year. I have the version 1 V6 headers, and they definitly added some power.

I would expect the same quality 403 stainless on the i4 version. 600 is a little steep for them tho, the V6 headers are only a little over 100 more.

Hardrock

Xrs2 have you had it dynoed?

Sorry for the OT everyone.

Anyway, No I never got a baseline, so the power added would be speculation anyway. I did however do alot of trial and error running with a gforce meter. And it shows significant time increases in the 0-60 with the headers.

Here are my results from another thread

----
I have an GTZ with IHE and my fastest 0-60 was about 6.5 seconds. That was with a solid launch and no spin really. On average im at about 0-60 in 7 secs.

I have a relzo 2600 in now, so I imagine it could be faster. I also need to get my TB bored, my throttle respone could be better. edit, I no longer have the relzo in my car, it is sitting in a box on my floor.

I used one of the gtech car computer things to monitor my upgrades. it went like this

My 0-60 times with various mods.

But somewhere in there I removed the spare tire, and then later added an xbox. Either way I am under stock weight barely.

Stock, don't know but read it is around 9
AEM CAI ~8.25
CMF Headers ~7-7.25
DYNOMAX Catback + tuneup ~7

Best was like ~6.5. Note I DO NOT launch my car, I go from full standstill idle RPM. I DO NOT brake launch to test mods.
----

So I lost about 1 second on my 0-60 with the headers, however I'd say most of the power is added on the topend of the powerband, you can really notice it cruising the highway at higher speeds.

yea i got the CMF for my i4, and power is defintaly noticed more in topend. im glad i got them when the group buy was goin on, cause now the price for them is a lil crazy.

wow, 110whp on a stock 3G I4???? i guess the 5spd makes a bigger difference than i thought, there's no way the auto will break over 100whp considering the 7G auto makes about 90whp
