I have an aftermarket trunk popper on my 01
its a solenoid thats in the trunk and has a piece of wire that ties around the piece of the trunk lock that gets pulled by the handle inside the car
basically it looks like it pulls that piece by the lock
and there is a power wire that runs to my alarm
and it allows me to press a button on my alarm remote and open the trunk
I didnt install it though, but thats the jist of it and it cost like 30 bucks or so for parts and the installation

The truck popper is great to have. I disconnected the cable pull by the latch to de-activate the lever on the inside near the driver seat. Where I live a lot of low lifes steal everything. This way they can not get my system in the trunk unless they pry the trunk lid open. Most punks dont want to put that much effort into it though. I just hope I never loose my keyless remote..... Well I did lock my keys in the trunk and had to get my 5 yr old cousin to crawl through the seat area tht pulls down and pull the emergency lever. But now that entire section is closed off. I am either going to need a smaller cousin or a locksmith if I loose my remote.

Rofl we should all have a lil cousin in the glove to get to those hard to reach places https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

Yeah that sounds pretty good, and is your trunk keyhole shaved off or covered and you can't use a key? Obviously if you lose your remote and your keys are attached double loose :X

Dang Agent, you are correct. I just remembered my 2003 G does not have a key slot on the trunk! Why would Mitsu. not put a key slot on the trunk? Are all 03s like this? Smaller cousin, it will be....

there's a switch by the trunk latch to deactivate the inside trunk opener.

FYI, the switch to disable the release from the drivers seat has been removed for the 02-03 trunks, as the only way to open the trunk is either with the remote or that switch (mitsu shaved off the lock!)

hey yeah, i noticed that on mine today, but if you look inside that mechanism the cable that pulls the lever to open it isnt permanently attached, it just has a metal ball on the end and is in a slot, u can slide it out w/a screwdriver, putting it back together might not be so easy. thanks for all the help all.
