I recently lost the rest of my gauge backlighting on my speedo(half was already burnt out),& its totally dark at nite now.At the same time I lost half the illumination on my fuel gauge, too. Is getting to the bulbs an easy fix? Is there instructions posted somewhere? Help!

Gotta be a fuse. U got the mitsu manual? Turn to page 7-24 and look to see which fuse goes for ur gauge cluster and replace it.

if its not the fuse, heres how to change the bulbs

https://www.thegalantcenter.org/viewt...ight=gauge+bulb ('https://www.thegalantcenter.org/viewtopic.php?t=1022&highlight=gauge+bulb')

and check here for some pics

its not that hard at all usually takes about 10 minutes at most

Thanks! I didnt think it was a fuse, because half the other dash lighting works,& the brightness intensity knob on the dash works,too...... Has anyone thought of trying to switch out any lite bulbs out to LED type? www.superbrightleds.com  oops,I just read the answer to my LED question. They are making different versions now though...

you would still want a led light that emits light not only from the tip but also the sides. examples of that would be superbright led's inverted cone led bulb and the WLED-X5wedge base bulbs since those emit color not just the tip and not just the sides but both. if you get a LED bulb that emits froom just one you'll have dark and light spots in the cluster .

I guess that would be true for the stock tailights, but I'll have to take another look at my Altezza conversions.I wouldnt need those on my vette, because the lites are recessed & you cant see the rear lights from the side-just the reflection.

I used oval wide angel lensed LED's from autolumination.com, and i would recommend trying the 5 LED ones. The ones I had left dark areas on the gauges, but where you could see it, they were bright. They are cheaper at superbrightleds, so if i were you, id check it out and see how well they work. Dont forget to post pics too, im curious.

I just bought a couple APC 1157 style LED's in red from G.I. Joe's for $5.99 each,to try out.On the package it says "for offroad or show use only".I was going to try them on my Galant in back, but my Altezza units are all one piece with one plug in for power,so I would have to disassemble it somehow. So,instead, for now,I plugged them into my vettes rear brakelites.Looks to me like they are the same intensity as the regular bulbs. But I forgot to see if they would work when the signals were activated...I will check tomorrow. For some reason, one bulb fit loosely,so I may have to tape it with electrical tape so it doesnt disconnect

i put red LED 194s in for my gauges, but the light does not show through as well as i would like...i got them from superbrightleds or wutever, and theyre the ones wit the 5 bulbs for each socket...anyways, im thinkin its the gauge faces i have cuz if i take out a needle, the light that shows through is ridiculously bright...so im wonderin if maybe i peel the backing off of the gauge faces would it show through better? or would it all juss be red?

you may have to get these:

i know for our galants, since the bulbs used in our tails and front are dual filament, the LED's wont light properly when the turn signal is initated. These correct that problem. It has a link telling you which ohm to pick too.
