so, a while back i put red LEDs in for behind my gauges, and i was havin problems cuz they werent lightin up right. i knew it was the aftermarket gauges i have, but i didnt know how to fix it cuz i no long have the stock ones. i tried printin them off from the template, but i didnt like how it looked. then i noticed the backing of the gauges made the light white, sorta like the covers they put on the bulbs for the ashtray n cig lighter. i peeled the backing off and wow, what a difference.

But see, with LED bulbs behind your gauges, you get hot spots.

hot as in HEAT hot or super bright light here, dimmer light over tgere Hot spots? I always thought LEDs didnt give off heat

hot spots meaning LED's give directional light so most of the light is focused in different areas where others are barely getting any light

how would you go about fixing that problem maybe putting it in backwards?

I'd like to see that work..

the 5 LED BULBS would be the best bet at defeating the focused light problem, 7 bux a pop tho

well the light is going to shine anyway and that way you wouldn't have the "hot spots"
idk just thinking while i was reading

i got mine from www.superbrightleds.com i believe is the website...
theyre the LEDs that actually have 5 bulbs on one socket...so that way it shines almostly pretty evenly in all directions...i got them for like $2.39 i believe...

$2.39 a bulb works much better than 6.99 a bulb.. u got a pic of ur LEDs in action? doubtful since you had to borrow a cam for the grill pics.. but let us kno

0o shit i forgot u were the thread starter haha... so it looks like 10-40 mph looks bright, dead spot between 40-110 mph, temp gauge is dull, and 3000-4000 pm is dead.. correct? still bright as shit.. maybe i'll use some LEDs and some incadescent bulbs

its actually spread pretty evenly...the reason sum spots look brighter than others, like the speedo for example, is cuz thats where the bulb is, so its brighter there

those white parts are designed to spread the light evenly. Those hot spots are gonna get on your nerves at one point.
