Did a search and couldn't find anything regarding this problem.

Long story short...

I just bought a used JDM headlight for my 8g, it came with bulbs for turn signal and H1(high beam), so all I need now is to buy H7(low beam) bulbs.

So I went to eBay and bought one of those cheap H7 xenon "HID-look" bulbs. But when I was about to install it on the JDM headlight housing, I found the following problems:

1. The H7(low beam) bulbs seemed smaller, the clip that was supposed to hold it in place doesn't quite hold it, and it kinda wiggles.

2. The rubber seal doesn't reach all the way to the bulb, so the only thing that is holding the H7 bulb is the clip which is not even holding it properly.

I think I can make modifications to solve this problem, but I'm wondering if anyone here also had the same problem.

I have JDM headlights with the black housing...

Just a note regarding my OEM turn signal sockets, I think one of Reelax tutorials mentioned that I need to trim one of the larger tabs in order to make it fit the JDM turn signal housing, but in my case, it plugged in perfectly without any trimmings and vice versa (the JDM turn signal sockets also fits the USDM turn signal housing).

At one point in time, I thought I had a different JDM headlight version...hmmmm...but I'm most likely wrong.

I appreciate all your replies! https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

yeah I have the same problem even with my h1s....the harnesses inserted through the rubber keep the bulbs from moving around bec. their width barely fits into the rubber hole and thus, forcing them in puts pressure on the bulbs to stay in place temporarily; but I have to reinforce them once in awhile. I'm thinking about soldering the clips and make them thicker/longer. anybody else??

I solved this problem by slicing a swaybar booshing to get a rubber circle, then i just put it over the bulb and the clip closed.

I just came back from Home Depot and bought some PVC pipe couplings that fits the round rubber seal perfectly. I'll try and see if I can make something out of it tonight when I get home from work.

Thanks!

Sigh...... did your JDM heads come with bulbs? I can't remember if ithey did check the bulb for an attatchemen that will go between teh bulb and the plugs to wire it. do you haev JDM harnesses also?

ok forget all that stuff there should be a socket that the bulb plugs into before. and the socket has 2 prongs that teh harness plugs to. they might be part of the harness they might have came with the heads. mine came with teh headlights

That probably explains it. However, in the case of my H1 (high beams) which came with JDM headlight, there is no such socket. It's just the bulb itself, which is held properly by the clip, and then the rubber seal fits perfectly and holds the bulb in place. So I thought the same thing would apply for the H7 (low beams).

Ok, I stand corrected. I checked my H1 bulb again and there is really a socket that was holding it. My headlight unit didn't came with a socket for the H7 (low beam), however I was able to make good use of the PVC pipe coupling that I bought at Home Depot for 60 cents (pair).

Thanks for all your replies!

you're in luck. i got it from ebay and the guy who sold it to me is also selling the same thing right now. here's the ebay link:

please note that my pda mount is exactly like the one being auctioned which is a vent mount. however, as you can see on my photo album pic, i did some sort of customization where it is now mounted on an aluminum base attached to the side of the open din.

i hope this helps...
