My husband bought neon lighting for under the car this weekend. Does anyone know how to put this on? My husband and his buddy tried all afternoon to get it on, but the screws kept breaking when they would drill. Hmm.... one of my friends recommended self-tapping screws. Now I will be completely honest...I don't know what they are, or what they do, or where in the heck to find them.

Tell me about your neon lighting if you have it. What are the pros and cons??

You will never believe this one...but this is one "husband mod" I can live with!! WOO HOO!!!!

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

some zip ties would help hum self tapping screws would help predrilling too with small bits. also make sure that you drill into something secure and that isn't important. don't wanna drill holes in the fuel tank or anything like that...

as for what they are...they are colored lights for the bottom fo your car. uhm make sure your hubby puts a switch on them cuz in many places they are illegal to use when driving.

i think she ment what the self tapping screws are not neons. but good luck with the install and dont get hurt or anything i had a tube break once but it wasnt hooked up but it scared the shit out of me. have fun installing the kit.

Self tapping screws are basically screws that make a hole for themselves as you tighten them Erin. Like Allan said, make sure hubby doesn't screw into a brake line or a wiring harness.

As far as the neons go, the best advice I have is Don't let the tubes show when the car is on the ground. That's Ricer Class when I can see your tubes. BTW, you didn't tell us...what color did he get?

also for the rear I used the straps they came with, and used the bolts that hold the bumper on under the car to hold them...
the only problem I have been having with any of them is that the straps crack from the stress or bumps or something...what can I do about that

I finally got my neons installed it a total of 3 hours. all the bulbs are perfect except the front bulb. The front bulb shows to much. But now that its installed, ill wait til the summer to put it where you put it MrJay. What i do like about the position of the front bulb is that it lights up the floor bright.

My ground kit is liteglow, and liteglow comes with these clamps that you drill into the bumper and chasis of the car. The only way those bulbs are goin to fall off is if the bulb shatters (knock on wood).

Jay how did you slide your bulb in behind the bumper?

Oh yea mrjay for my grill i put a separate 24 in bulb.

Jay or anyone else, have had any problems with an underbody neons. All four bulbs were working fine until the last bulb in the connection series didnt turn on anymore. It snowed last night, and the temperature dropped to 10 deg F, or does that mean that after all the lights ive put on my car, i need a bigger battery.

And if i do need a better battery what do u guys suggest.
