Just incase you've never seen the full polyurethane kit for the Galant, here's a pic from edozone.com, the price is $1,059.

Can't say for sure since I've never bought from them or know anyone who has. But I have been going to their site for a couple of years now, and they always seem to be updated and show some very nice kits. Guess the only way to really know is to contact them, ask questions, and try them out.

their prices on the other kits are pretty high for regular FG kits.

It's good to know where i can get it at least.

Good find. Thanks.

oh ok. i do like the sides and rear though, so lemme ask you guys this do you think those side and rear lips would go with the cyberII front bumper?

completely off topic...but why exactly does polyurethane cost more than comparable FG kits...seriously...to make a polyurethane takes alot less effort than a corresponding FG part and cheaper.

I wish someone knew how to make a bumper mold or something...if anyone knows how to make a bumper let me know...the basics behind making a PUR is easy isocyanate ($8-10 per lb), polyether polyol ($0.75 per lb) and polyester polyol ($1-2 per lb)...to make a cheap PUR by weight fraction it would cost about $1-2 per pound.

If anyone has a polyurethane kit that may be a little damage or ripped, if they send me a small chunk ie less than 1 cm, I can see if I can analyze it at work to get its actual composition...then we could reverse engineer the part and I'm sure it can be done much cheaper than the $1000 complete and an unfinished (not sanded kit) could be done much cheaper than $200...ok sorry for the rant guys...but seriously there's no good reason why they charge what they do for these parts...

Polyurethane is a lot more durable than FG.

This about this...if you could make that bumper...knowing how bad we want it, wouldn't you wanna make as much as possible out of it? The price is a little high.
But the prices on their other kits are really high to.

Great idea. The reason that one is so expensive is because they are trying to make their money back and for the pure fact that it's made out of Poly...

yes thats Z's car...

and urethane is more durable than FG, but much harder to fix than FG...so watch out for that too...you can just throw some bondo and more fg and fix most body kits....but not urethane

This is a bodykit thread so I will ask it here, sorry to steal the thread

Any thoughts on this kit ? I emailed him and he said it fits nicely and there might be a inch gap for the side skirts . . . . that the truth or a lie ?

i love to burst people's bubbles https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

1- yes thats my car
2- kit all around is lower than all other fg kits on G's right now but i've seen stock cars with crazy ass drops. without an agressive drop, the kit would look pretty good and still have a decent ground clearance
3- why do you guys think you only see the exact same pics eracings took a couple of years ago? as far as i know, molds were never made for sides and rear. so i highly doubt eracings finished the project or that anyone else did...

Honestly, that's definitely a myth, currently I work for a chemical company that one of their core technologies is polyurethanes...these materials are cheap to make and stick to metal/fiberglass/some plastics like abs, but not PP or PE. Urethane will stick to urethane due to similar surface energy...if you ripped a PU bumper, you need a short OT PU (ie higher crystalline) to bond the parts then could go to the store that they sell polyurethane floor finishings (for wood floors) to set your bumper and fix it sand and paint and you're back in business..or you could used bondo and when it sets cover with a PU floor finishing...same thing It is true that urethanes are more durable than FG in certain applications...ie flexural strength, but they are no way stronger in tensile (not that a bumper ever failed by this method though)

Great idea. The reason that one is so expensive is because they are trying to make their money back and for the pure fact that it's made out of Poly...

if you know what you are doing, you can easily make the parts @ $250-400 and make a sizable profit...for example, side skirts generally weigh about what 10 lbs each... @ avg price of 1.50 a pound its $15 to make the PU, the mold say it cost $50 hell, even $100 to construct, after that its just pour and set and cure...free. I say my time on it would be $25 or so. If you sold the parts unfinished...ie no primer not sanded, there's no reason you couldn't sell them for $150.

Obviously I would need to work out actual details. I'm not the type that would get greedy, since a good name and quality products for the right price will get you further with more business than you would think...the only time things start to get pricey is when you begin adding overhead and start playing the supply/demand game...

I would honestly like to give this a try...I just need some background on what the actual makeup of a typical bumper is (ie the reverse engineering of the parts)...

if you want i can go to your house and rip off a piece of your factory bumper and you can use that to reverse engineer
