What gas milage are you guys getting with the V6? I get between 22 and 25 normally. I drive mostly city streets and expressways in early rush hour. It does seem that the AC does affect to mileage by about 2 mpg.

About 330 miles on a full tank. All highway miles. From Albany to Brooklyn.

gas light will come on at about 370 miles on the highway and then around 340 or so in the city.

Come on people don't you calculate your gas mileage with each fill up! I don't want to know when your light comes on.

I usually get about 26-27 miles per gallon, but I do mostly highway driving, and average about 3K miles a month. So my mileage will properly differ greatly from you city guys.(By the way just broke 250K on the way home from work yesterday...woo-whoo!!...LOL)

I get 22-24 in the city, since I'm a pretty aggressive driver it's a little better if I drive like a granny. On an all highway trip I get approx. 28mpg.

22mpg..... I drive 44miles a day so 2 gallons of gas a day. And with gas prices at $3.20 a gallon for 91, I pay $6.40 a day

I decided I'm getting myself a beater. Probably a Toyota paseo or tercel. Something that'll give me 30+ mpg

I got a 05 Toyota Corolla, I get 35-ish in the city, 41 highway. Its a manual, so you know I'm coasting like a mutha whenever I can with gas prices the way they are.

Is is really worth the expence of having another car to get 10 mpg better than the Galant. With a second car there is more insurance. Plus there is the cost of the car. 22 mpg is not that bad.

Well I'm pretty much going to be driving 44 miles for the next two years. Insurance will probably be the same cost as the savings of gas. I will sell the beater in two years and get most if not all my money back. So I don't really get hurt or gain any money.

But in the long run, I'll be putting about 15k miles a year on the galant not to mention other maintenence which costs alot more than a beater. I'd rather my galant not depreciate in value by getting more miles on it.

Amen to that brother!! That was my original plan when I got my G, but you know how things come up. The next thing you know you got an ass of miles on your new car!! Go ahead and get that beater and switch which car gets the wear and tear. I'm looking for a beater now too, even though I got soooo many miles on the G, but she stills run like a Rolex. If something does go out on her (i.e engine or tranny) I'll fix and keep her.

I live in L.A. and there's a lot of stop and go traffic here. Lately it's been pretty hot so most of the time I run the A/C. I'm guessing i'm getting between 20 - 22 mpg and I'm using premium gas. I don't know if switching to a lesser grade will reduce/improve mpg. But my Galant is a '99 and I'm guessing the newer Galants have better mpg.

my old v6 used to get like 23mpg all around. did some maintenance, oil change, spark plugs etc etc, got it close to 29mpg before my timing belt decided to start hell.

im making 26mpg on the new engine. not 29 but much better than what it was during the break in.

City driving, with no more than 20% highway, gives 21-22. Straight highway driving (Sac to LA, about 400 mi.) gives 26, and that's with the AC on and the cruise set to 78.

Just took my '99 ES V6 with 130K on a vacation...

Got 28.8 mpg on the way down (530 miles) through some mountains and got an even 30 mpg on the way back up (602 miles) through some different mountains.

Are you sure you have a V6 and not a Lawn mower engine? https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

Where does he say that 602 miles was on ONE tank of gas?
I do find 30 mpg with the V6 hard to believe, though. Constant 50 mph? Maybe...
