Hey. Is our car considered a DSM? Or is it only for 1st n 2nd gen eclipse (n eagle talons). DSM stands for Diamond Star Motoring right?

we're not DSMs. applies only when the car was made duing the dodge/chysler/mitsubishi partnership.

i have factory DSM stickers in my door jam and in my engine bay, but i've heard of a few other wierd 94s being DSMs as well. it doesn't really matter because my car is identical to any non-DSM 95 galant.

you're coming to the meet right?!

Technically some 7gs were made in the Normal, IL plant while the DSM collaboration was still in affect. Those made there while the DSM partnership still existed were branded with DSM tags/stickers. Nothing special about them.

No 8g from my knowledge has the DSM sticker. But if you ask any hardcore turbo 1g/2g owner if they mad DSM galants, he will not know. Technically they are because they are branded, but then again, they do not have a 4g63t. But then agaaaaain a lot of people do not consider 6gvr4s DSMs, so go figure. But your car, the 8g, is far from a DSM. 7g is more of a DSM as it shares a platform with an actual DSM(2g).

But my car has a 4g63t and no DSM badges https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

cause i thought all mitsu cars are considered DSM, if u take the name literally, since the logo is from the two companies right? 3 diamonds (diamond crysler). I got a custom plate. I put "ADSM4ME" was gonna put "DSMTOME" but people might not read DSM TO ME, but think DSM TOME? So some 2nd gen guy was giving me shit. Just wanna know how stupid should i feel....

so if u was ever to put a 4g63 motor i could get away w/ it? Or what can I do not to make me took like an ass....

Not all Mitsus are DSMs, definitely not. Not all vehicles with 4g63ts are DSMs, not Evos, not 6gvr4s.

Diamond Star Motors (DSM) was a joint effort between Mitsubishi and Chrysler's Eagle and Plymouth divisions. This partnership is responsible for producing the Eclipse, Talon and Laser. Which were all made in the Normal, IL plant along with some 7gs(which were tagged with DSM stickers). This collaberation no longer exists. It stopped with the last year 2g(99) and no, the 99 8g is not considered a DSM.

no, they had already changed the name of the plant.

7Gs are not DSMs (despite what the sticker says).

Heres a complete list of REAL DSMs:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/model-guide/ ('http://www.dsmtuners.com/model-guide/')

PS Even the 3000GT VR4 guys denounce the DSM label misinformed people tend to stick on them.

So what makes a 1g/2g more of a DSM? Some 7gs were made in the exact same factory during the same period that DSM existed and have the exact same DSM badging as any 1g/2g turbo. DSM doesnt mean that your car has to be turbo from the factory. If it was made in the DSM factory, it is a DSM vehicle. O and the 2g uses a modified version of the 7g chassis, so the 2g is a Galant at hart really https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

But who cares, its just a name lol
