I had to put on my stock muffler due to a retarded ticket I got. The weird part is that I don't feel like I lost any hp with the stock muffler on vs. a huge a$$ muffler I had on.

you aren't really gonna get much gain from a muffler in the first place. most of the exhaust restriction we have is up near the front near the engine.

but the oem muffler is definetly heavier than the aftermarket muffler huh??

i would have just slapped a big long resonator on if i got cited for a noise violation. polyurethane exhaust handers also help to dampen the obnoxious vibration noise you get from straight through exhaust. made a big difference in mine. now nothing but a sexy and smooth tone at any rpm, at any amount of throttle.
but then again, a turbine wheel does alot on its own to keep the exhaust quiet.
poly hangers are like 5 bucks for a pair. then a resonator would have been like 25 bucks after labor at a muffler shop. they basically get those for nothing.
