Hello all. After six months of having my 03 galant I'm finally getting around to doing the sound system upgrades. Just picked up a Pioneer AVIC-D1 and I was wondering if anyone might have some pics laying around how they moved the ac controls from where they are to down where the pocket currently resides. As for the moment I have a lot of glassing and sanding to do to fit the D1 any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way this car is awesome there's so much more stuff availible for it than my old car.

hey whats up and welcome to the club...where in Jersey are you at?
if you do a search you will find the answers you seek. I know I personally answered this question few times since I have done this in my car,
first you just have to pop off the trim which is easy enough, and then you have to unscrew the pocket from the trim piece..
basically you just have to unscrew the ac controls and just move them down, there is enough cable running to them that you can shift them down to the next spot, and you just have to drill a few new holes to secure them properly
you can see pics of the finished product in my car by clicking the www at the bottom of my post

I kinda figured my question would bring about the search replies, but I have the pictures I was looking for were of the way the controls were mounted without the dash bezel on. I apologize I did search before I posted but couldn't find any ah whatever time to do some sanding on the fiberglass now.

mrjaydeeone thank you and to answer your question I live in Brick but spend most of my time in Toms River area ( where all the buds live).

oh okay I see I see. I can snap a few pics tomorrow of them without the trim bezel on there ir you would like.
Brick I see. Keep a look out in the East Coast Section for upcoming meets and shows in this area. I live in Staten Island, NYC but work in Jersey City, and spend a lot of time in NJ also. As a matter of fact there is a member down in Toms River, that I helped with a guage inverter install bout a month ago

Wouldn't mind helping ya out with doing the mod. As far as pics go I have a few from before I added the braces to level it out, I'll up those once I find them and as soon as I find a new memory card for my camera and well find the camera. I can take some pics of the new setup for ya. I will say this much though my setup is a bit different then the tutorial posted on the site. I actually pulled out the whole arm/torsion bar assembly from the car. Dropped it about half an inch to offset the thickness of the hingesand allow it to seal factory tight. Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense I'm not all that great putting thoughts down on paper (or the comp as this case may be).

If you look as the second pic, basically all I did was put and L bracket on the trunk opposite the hinges to set it level.

pretty much what you did was put a stop on the trunk so it wouldn't tilt all the way down.

Yeah pretty much, I'm not gonna try and make it our any more than what it is. A L bracket from home depot and a couple ruber stoppers that come with aftermarket radios that I got from work. I mean it works that all that matter right?
